I had a brain fart earlier...it's the throttle housing that barely makes contact, not the reservoir. All cables have plenty of slack except the front brake line, which is snug.

Excuse the crappy cell phone pics...

That works. Thanks a lot for the pictures.

All typos and misspellings blamed on my phone.

Zzr1400

Hers my 2006 ZZR1400, was original pearl meteor gray but after i droped it on the side it was repainted exactly like the candy lime green and black 2011 edition which is even better looking in the real world then the pictures tells.
I hav fitted PC5 and removed the secoundery flies so it has the same low down amazing torque as the 08-11
Fitted SW-Motech racks with Givi V35 and a bags-connection quick lock tankbag and have been touring down Europe for almost 3 weeks and it does the job very good :)

And her its striped naked before the repainting

Nice bike! What about replacing that stock exhaust?

I have som planes, i realy want the Yoshi R77 but they only fitt the 08+. I bought a header from a 09 with the intention to put it on the bike so i can buy the R77. Mine 06 have only cats in the cans but the 08+ has a third in the header and i riped it out, and after i did that someone told me that it might be a possebilety that the header from the 09 hade to much airflow and maybe the bike would get a powerloss somewher on the rev band, so i am still making som research about this. So its now either gona be Mivv for the 06 header or R77 on the 09.
i just spendt 3000$ on ohlins springs,24 000km service and new tiers + 1500$ on plain tickets to los angeles. Staying in california and nevada for 3weeks so thers probebly 8-10 000$ gone ther.
So i dont know if i get new cans this summer.

Hey, beautiful ZX14 and I love the color.

I'm thinking of getting a new 2012 blue one like yours.

What is the comfort level on this for touring? I'm worried that the grips may be too low for long stretches in the saddle.

I've heard that the comfort and handling for the 2012 is much improved over prior years.

What are the most worthwhile mods/farkles for this bike?

Any 14R riders please respond.

Contrary to the way it looks in this pic, the 35" pannier width ( Givi E21's) is less than the width of the mirrors.

For tripping, I'd consider:

- Risers. Genmars worked well for me.

-Windscreen. Zero Gravity on mine.

Luggage To each his own, but I get by with just a road bag. YMMV.

Maybe

-Buell pegs. If you need the extra room the Buell peg fix works great. I eventually went to the stock location because: 1) Ms Iron wanted the Buell pegs for her C14 and 2) I couldn't make them work with the VooDoo shorty pipes. But I have to admit that I find the higher pegs more comfy now.

- Heated grips A little pricier than everything else, but the KTM heated grip kit has been nice a number of time. Wow, are those things toasty. I'm not sure if I've ever had them set higher than 2.

Hardbags i recomend sw-motech side racks with givi V35. The sw-motech comes of and on in less then a minut to give you the clean look.
Some prefers to use the C14 seat, it will fitt on the 14R.

Thanks. Here's the latest mods I've made to the ZX14R.

Yoshimura CF slip-on's. Better sound plus weight reduced by 20 lbs of ugly fat

Heli-Bar risers - 3/4" higher and 1/2" back

Murph's Pegs - 1.5" lower

Puig DB screen

Shogun frame, fork, and swingarm sliders.

Comfort is improved, though it wasn't bad to begin with.

I also added an adapter plate for a Givi top box.

Another mod is a rack for carrying a folding bicycle. The 62" (l,w,h) airline legal luggage looks a bit odd due to it's size ( 30" X 20" X 12"), but causes no handling issues while on the road. It also provides a place to store all motorcycle clothing and helmet while bicycling.

Here's the homebuilt pannier racks, top rack, and bicycle rack

Yesterday I replaced the OEM Metzeler M5's with Michelin PR3's. As improvements go, this is a big one.

As you can see, I'm a fan of PR3's ... Tom
