Great video. That looks like a very well organized event. I was involved in organizing my first AMA dual sport this past summer. While all the participants gave positive feedback, I felt I could have benefited from the experiences of others in putting these things together. Sooooo..... You guys actual ride in the rain? ![]() Just so you don't think I'm too much of a lurker, my malformative years (the 70's) were spent in Port Angeles, just across the water. I still have scars and sore joints from riding a Honda SL350 on muddy tracks that I had no business being on. My recent trip to Vancouver Island was about 30 years overdue. I wouldn't mind another trip over on the DRZ to explore some of the tighter trails. If any of you are ever in Colorado, look me up. I would be happy to trade lodging & native guide services.

You've lived in PA - you know if we didn't ride in the rain, we'd hardly ever ride at all

![]() I knew enough about the area to plan our trip for the last half of August. That's when I would always take a week long backpacking / climbing trip into the Olympics. I told my wife the weather is always that nice. While staying in Port Alberni while her bike was being repaired, it was funny to hear the locals refer to their town as PA.

Quoting.... a message from Don. Duncan motorsports is closing, This is a very sad time for Natalie and I, we are closing Duncan Motorsports. The company was not in good financial shape when we purchased it, we worked very hard and injected a lot of cash into the company over the last years to try and get it on even ground. Unfortunately the Economy and the weather along with a couple of other factors were not in our favour. As a result we have made the decision to shut DMS down. On the positive side we have met a lot of good people who share our interest in the great sport of motorcycling many who have become friends. I am not leaving the industry entirely and plan to continue teaching adventure riding and competing in off road motorcycle rallies. Duncan motorsports will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday this week for inventory, we will re-open on Friday October 14th for the biggest closing out sale ever. All motorcycles, ATVs, tires, helmets, clothing, in fact everything is on sale. The sale will continue until everything is gone. Savings of up to 70% on parts and accessories, motorcycles are at or below dealer cost. Financing Available for all purchases *** Kickstart coffee will remain open and we will continue to hold our future events from Kickstart*** I would like to thank everyone for all your past support. I hope everyone stops by so we can say so long in person. Sincerely Don Hatton

Hey everybody
There's a couple of ADVers from Alberta coming into town this coming weekend and we're going for a ride Sunday maybe on some gravel west of Shawnigan or something like that. Anybody want to come along? Or even lead? I've done practically no off-pavement riding here on the Island so I'm looking for route suggestions. I think they're good but I'm not so not too gnarly OK? I'll be on the Wee so judge accordingly.

![]() Does anyone one know anything about Don's ADV rider training he mentions? Is there an actual school on the Island or is it just him taking folks out from time to time? |

VikB, Don takes small groups out from time to time, usually a two day course. Call him at the shop for more info.
