I'm in Victoria visiting my kids who are both going to UVIC, and my sister who lives here. The bikes on the road are driving me nuts! We are still at least six weeks away from riding up in the interior. What a beautiful day!

Hmm, looking for a good late winter camping/fishing adventure.... Should I head West, or north from Vic? Backroad to Alberni I'm thinking maybe, taking backroads from Shawnigan to Cowichan Lake, Gas up in Youbou, or should I aim a bit further north? Or, the other place on my mind is Nitnat, Carmanah area, or maybe even Bamfield...I just overhauled my whole bike last weekend, and got a mechanic to do the valves and cam chain the week before that, and now I'm ready for an adventure! Gotta get outa the city!

Oops - looks like I poked a bees nest. No need to be all defensive and sensitive about my comment. I didn't mean to get you all riled up.

I am happy to take anyone out on their KLR or Vstrom and see how they go on the stuff I ride on. All the good riders know better. They put the 650 in the shed and get out the 250/300 race bike.

So - wanna put your money where your mouth is? I'll bring the video camera.

..had what I thought was a good way to pass my first 100k kms on my Dakar went out to the Carmanah (again) and took my cousin as it had been MANY YEARS since we had been out that way last. Had a really good, safe, fun, ride and we hope to get some camping, exploring, and fishing done out there again this season. We caught some rain but that wasn't too bad and a bit of snow dusting was noticed on the ride out but it was fine. Hoping to connect with some other "local riders" to do similar but hasn't happened too much but....once the REAL betta wetha comes there'll be dual sports everywhere no doubt. Just thought to share and try and keep this thread "current"

Tomorrow{ Sat 20th} I'll be doing a backroads loop from Cambell River towards the North Island if anyone is interested in joining me... Could meet up at the Chevron in C.R. near the Gold River cutoff at around 10AM...

Count on about a 400-500 KM circle loop from there... Post up if your interested..

Hello gunnerbuck, Sadly I am not able to connect THIS TIME...due to another commitment but in future, a bit of notice and I would like to see what routes you'd be willing to share.
Must accompany the Mrs. to Courtenay to have some upkeep done on her Can Am Spyder...this thread has SO MUCH promise....keep posting the invites however and hopefully someday/somewhere...safe ride.
