GPS Motorcycle Navigation Apps for iPhone 13 of the best apps reviewed

Hi Guys,

I realize this is quite an old thread, but if you're still looking for the best app...I reviewed and rated 13 current mainstream navigation apps for Motorcycle use. You can check out my article GPS Motorcycle Navigation Apps for iPhone – 13 of the best apps reviewed.

And if you're thinking about using your iPhone on your Motorcycle (which you all probably already have ) then check out my other article. iPhone as Motorcycle GPS – 8 things to consider

Cheers,
Guido

It's not available yet.

Gaia GPS for Motorcycle Navigation

Well, I ended up using my iPhone as a GPS by accident and haven't looked back! BOTH of my Garmin's broke a week prior to doing the WABDR - one wouldn't recognize the charging cradle anymore and the other kept having software problems and shut itself off randomly. So, just because it's a "dedicated GPS" doesn't mean it's any more reliable than an iPhone.

I ended up doing a little research and loaded an APP called Gaia GPS onto my phone - AWESOME!!! I can download tons of different kinds of maps and store them for offline use. I tried a few others including Motion X and View Ranger and Gaia ended up being the most accurate and easy to use.

Now I took that same philosophy and mounted an iPad Mini Retina inside a waterproof, shockproof case running the Gaia GPS App. So, I can get turn by turn directions, steam my music, email, import/export .gpx tracks, etc all through one device. Plus I have that nice size screen!

Neptune,

I've been playing with MotionX GPS, GPS Kit and Gaia GPS. Lately, I've been using GPS Kit, but after your comments I'll spend some more time with Gaia.

The apps listed above work well for some situations but none are ideal for off-the-grid riding. I'm surprised this void hasn't been addressed by an app developer.

I'm glad to hear the iPad Mini is working for you. I'm thinking of picking up an older iPad Mini, and use a Bad Elf GPS Pro that I already have, with it.

I've been thinking about using an iPad too. Have you had any problems with it overheating in direct sunlight? I ran into that issue with my iPhone 5S.

I've been using my iPad for the last month as a GPS in a RamX mount. Not problem with overheating. I've overcome the glare issue by angling the screen up.

I asked a Moderator in Laying Down Tracks for. Sub forum for this type of thread. Maybe more people need to ask.

What is handlebar/ front end vibration going to do to the Ipad?

I've had 2 Garmin GPS's get shook to death on the handle bar of my Harley (and that was on the street). The Etrex started getting lots of vertical lines on it and the 60CSX would just shut off for no reason. The 60CSX I bought at REI, so I took it back. They stood behind it and gave me my money back after 5 years of use.

Maybe you guys can help. Forgive me if this has already been covered, but I have searched the threads quite a bit.

I want to create a route on paved roads from home on my computer. Send it to my i phone 5 and have it give me that route back on my sena bluetooth via turn by turn. Am I an idiot that I cannot find this? Seems like a simple fracking thing...

It is not simple but not difficult. Look for the ipad thread, I posted a link in there. It takes a couple downloads to your computer. I have been using this method and it works well.
