Pre-Dakar viewing.

I posted this in the Dakar thread but it must have got looked over. Anyways, I will be in Argentina from 12/19 til 1/15 and I hope to make to Buenos Aires to see some of the Dakar stuff. How close would a non racer be able to get to these bikes? Is there a way I could see some of these bikes up close? Just to admire and take a few pictures is all.

Thanks,
Spencer

Depending when (or whom you personally know ), you can probably get as close as touching them.
After scrutineering, the bikes get put into the so called "Parc Fermé", pretty much an enclosure so no one can fiddle on anything. There you can't go passed the surrounding gates/barriers.

Otherwise before a stage you can catch up with guys (depending on what kind of a morning person they are )!

Spencer:

You can get very close at parc-ferme and during the technical inspection which is also open to the public.

Here are a couple of pics from last year and a link to my entire Dakar slideshow

Technical inspections and stickering

This building is open for to the public for FREE. Just 100 yards from parc ferme. Every competitor and assistance vehicle goes through the line for ASO stickers.

Good eye candy.
