Keith,

Beautiful bike and excellent road trip! Hopping on an unknown vintage bike for a trip like that is a pretty ballsy move IMO, but it certainly makes it a bit more exciting. Looked like a great time despite your minor mechanical issues.

BTW, I need to try and make it out to some more events. Last time we crossed paths was drag week 07 :)

Well Hey... Welcome here Jim..... I love the mechanical challanges... but I'm not like some of my pals that simply create issues to build in Drama....

Which car was yours??? Red Camaro?

Thanks Keith, I've been lurking a bit but felt inclined to post after seeing your thread.

Good memory!

We had our orange Camaro at drag week 07 and I had my red Camaro at the 06 top speed challenge. Good times :)

Exactly! I miss my airhead. I've got an oilhead now and it's been good but if I had to do it over I'd have taken 1/2 the money spent and restored/minor moded the R100.
Enjoy your new bike. You'll learn to love it's simplicity and capability.

Thanks guys.... I appreciate the comments....

The Air head part of this is still just a tick out there for me.... I'm trying to make it happy now and I'm having a few issues.... and whalla.... I find the airhead group on this site.... Perfect...

I know now the Timing advance mechanism is worn out so I have to get it sorted out before I can bitch much.... the bike is in good condition and should end up as a nice scooter....

Still not sure I'm going to keep it...

Keith, Great RR. I was checking out the "New Posts" and just caught yours glad I did not miss it but sad I missed the ride along. If you jump another plane let me know Im always up for a run. Also since your garage is filling up with bikes let me know when you want to sell the Triumph.

that 550 with the Jammer is the one I gave you 225 bucks for... the Jammer was free with a CM400 I had for a while and the Krausers were 30 bucks at a swap meet... tires and chain as well as points put me damn near 400 dollars in that pig.... ..... Runs like a top...

So yeah... I'll still talk to ya.... LOL ( cause I didn't pay for the aerostich...) ( I'll tell you true though.... it's better then I'm saying... for real )

I just found the actual culprit to the poor running characteristics of the BMW... Seems some idiot installed the jet incorrectly whilst on the side of the road. After cleaning out the Silicone, the main needle seat got turned upside down.... thereby limiting the amount of fuel it actually received....

Fascinating how good it runs when it can actually get Fuel...

So there ya go.... interesting eh?...

Hey guys... as a side note... my credit card company didn't like all the small purchases while I was on the road and canceled my card... no biggie as I had another one with me.... ( I could have fixed it by calling but I was to cold )... but you might want to be prepared for them being buttheads when the 10 dollar gas charges start hitting from 3 states in 2 days....
