Fuel pump failure?

Hi Berg-Fans,

my 09-FE570 developed some problems after passing this minor jump:

THe Engine stalled in the same way like my 990 Adventure did when the fuel pump was faulty, breething sound from the filter and rapidly slowing down revs of the engine (as if no fuel would be delivered)

Surprisingly this bigger jump with harder landing was no issue at all

This repeated on several rounds on the track. I've got the feeling, when jumping from down to up (like a "parabel"), maybe the fuel (tank was half full) goes up and the pump is sucking air? Might this be a reason or is this not possible? I hope i don't have to replace the pump, since the warranty is already expired.

Please help me with good advises for self assistance, as the next dealer is 2 countries away...

Greetings

You should go to Husaberg.org - lots of racers there.

Two thoughts though; maybe loose electrical connection to the pump (this has happened to others).

If the fuel pump is momentarily sucking air, I don't think it would affect the EFI as it probably has enough fuel to continue. Many others have jumped their bikes without problems. However, there are foam kits and such that you can put in tanks to keep the fuel from sloshing around so much.

Im thinking on getting a 2011 570 and sale my ktm 2007 rfs 450.
I have a 09 450 for few months went testing suspenson on theme and like it ,Now the 570 is street legal i maybe pick one up and want to no how this subframe tank works ,Thanks
Javier,
The tank fills pretty quickly, off the main tank. 70 degree offers them for a pretty good deal, much better than the safari tank option as it is too wide in the knees. The 70 degree doesnt weigh in that much as I have not noticed the weight before. You will really like the 570, theres a new dealer in Moorpark that has them up for sale...

Stock is real quiet. The 4.1 is kinda loud. Not obnoxiuos, just loud. I also have a Yosh muffler that has a better sound when cruising as it is deeper and a little quiter but louder when on the gas. I have a Sound meter but it needs to be calibrated. Know anyone in the Forestry with a way to calibrate it?
Saturday is dyno for the FMF system with the User Tool map.
I still run stock gearing. Don't want to change to a 51 cause I like hillclimbing too much.

I do have the quiet insert for the 4.1.

Rode it this mornign on some single track but the gearing is off with the 42 on the back

Apparently, it's also the "get through the federal sound test" set up.

It took a little head scratching and a call to GDR but I finally got this sucker out.

It's replacement - ceramic coated, supposed to reduce the heat under the seat and tank by a few hundred degrees:

Wrenching on 70 degree tank '11 FE 570 S

Here are some photos of the 70 degree tank install, evap can removal, exhaust air valve removal, and fan kit install.

Disassembly:

Side note (jumping ahead a little) - any 'berg owner should check this, zip tie up the wiring to keep it off the shock body.
Stock:

Fixed:

Evap can, unhook hoses, plug vacuum port on engine, remove hoses tie in new vent system with 70 degree tank:

Fresh air pump for exhaust, remove an plug hole with supplied bolt:

Fan install:

70 degree tank install:

remove stock fuel pump cover and install supplied 70 degree unit:

Assembly of tanks, running vent lines, etc:

Yes, it is a little more involved than slapping a IMS/Acerebis 3 or 4 gallon tank on a KTM/Husky/Hon/Suz/etc... but it is not a bad project, the directions were good, and everything fit close for an aftermarket set up.

Planning on getting to the HDB handguards this week too. Also, hopefully it will be nice enough Sunday to get it out and see how the tank works.

Thanks for the walk through. Surprised you didn't video it though - I've watched all of yours lately - both the FE450 offroad and KTM 990 on road.

Be a shame to do all that work, and not be able to ride it.
Supposed to be 80 degrees here tomorrow.

How long did it take you to do everything shown ?

Fan kit?

TL, was the fan kit as easy as it looks? just replace the plug on the back of the radiator, mount the fan and plug it in? is that it?

also does anyone have pics or info on installing a horn? i've got 1 but havn't been able to find any info on line about installing it, or where the wiring is.

thanks!
