I think it looks better with the big tank on it

Have you tested your range with the current configuration?

Do you have the subframe tank as well?

The Safari is by far the best solution for my riding. I just took it out on a nasty 60 mile singletrack loop with 50+ large log crossings and the bike performed flawlessly. The tank is a non issue once you get past it looking so big.

No subframe tank, just stock and Safari. My calculations tell me 150 miles. My riding locations and throttle use are so vastly different on any given day it could be more. I would not want to plan on running full on whisky throttle for 150 miles in the desert. (but I think it could be done )

WB, did you have any leaks around the filler where the Safari tank sits on top of the oem tank? Or any other troubles fitting it?

Yes, I did have issues around the filler area the first time I filled it, but after re-tightening the fitting all has been good. I am not a fan of the instructions that come from Safari. Installation was a bitch to say the least, but maybe it was just my incompetence. I changed the bolts from the seat area to get a tighter and cleaner fit.

Thanks, probably going to pick one of these up so I hope you don't mind if I ask for some help to make the fitting easier. Will PM you when I get it.

I have a non-tank related question for you. What kind of tail light assembly is that on your bike. I just picked up a 2011 570 and the stock fender extension light assembly got destroyed by the rear tire so I am looking for something to replace it with that fits well under the fender.

cool looking tank by the way, that could be a future mod after I get the rear fender fixed.

Thanks

That is the standard park/brake light, but it doesn't have the white light for the plate illumination that some places may require.

In Oz it is standard. In US we get a thing with a big aluminum wing holding reflectors which we take off but the fender is different too and hits the rear tire and eats itself on the first ride. I took a heat gun to mine and reformed it to be functional. I would like an option too though.

Could you look up the part number for replacing the Oz fender so we could see if we can order it over here? TIA

Yes the 2011 US version gets the big rub on the tire friggen tail light. Not only did it rub on my tire, it cracked the fender extension where the turn sinals mount, they fell down and the tire ripped them off also, all in the span of like 3 bumps...

I looked at the breakdown and it looks like the 2010 US version gets that same light as in the photo I asked about... maybe someone with a 2010 model could conferm that

If you want a super compact unit with a built in license plate lights, this is what you guys need to get:

If you have the plastic undertail piece Paul would probably sell you just the LED light with mounting adapters as well.
