Nice one!
Gotta ask about the discoloration in center of muffler.
A weilded area, or just exhaust?

I figure there's a baffle right there where the heat is concentrated.

Hey, there's a BSA in my garage I forgot all about!

BSA built Enfield .22 Caliber training rifle. Not sure of the Vintage.

Is this an anacronism?

That's not an anachronism, that's a rifle.

Right, but you don't see that much heat generated that far back normaly.
Usualy the "blueing" ends about 5-6 inches from the head!

The date should be stamped under the bolt handle on the right side. If the stock is original the volley site on the left side indicates that it is 1914 or earlier.

Good eye. I never actually thought about how old this was. I just like .22's, and an Enfield .22 trainer is something I always wanted, since I've got two motorcycles produced by a company which is named for their Royal Contract to produce parts for Lee-Enfield Rifiles.

I took a peek under the bolt handle, and sure enough, right under that crown cartouche is a year.
1915. I think that's probably authentic, and consistent with the style of stock. And the model designation suggests this was originally built with a .22 caliber barrel.
Check it out.

The 22 SMLE (Short Magazine Lee Enfield) is a bit of a rare bird and is a very sweet shooter. Well done.

Fixx'd

The rifle is "short", not the magazine.

Seriously, thanks. I love these things, and feel lucky to own such an important piece of history.
Imagine the Royal Army cadets that may have learned to shoot on this rifle before being sent off to Flander's Fields.

Here's the video shots of the club gathering at the "meet-up" for the annual "motherlode" ride.
Check the bikes, hear them run, watch them take off!

My Dad's Rocket3 bought new in '72. I inherited in 89 after my father passed away. I sold it in 91 and have been kicking myself in the a$$ ever since.

Listed as a 1971

I found this to be a bit interesting.
This is listed in a current auction on eBay.
