Most Important "Known Issues" to look at on 08 690E ?

So I've been looking for a 690 for a while, and came across a deal on an 08 that I couldn't pass up. I'm familiar with some/many of the issues that these bikes have (fuel pump, etc.), but am wondering where exactly experienced 690 owners would recommend I start with any preventative measures on my new 690.

Previous owner is an older gentleman that swears he's never had an issue other than a side stand safety switch since he's had the bike. Mostly on-road use for 10k miles. Is it possible this is a mostly trouble free 690E, or is it only a matter of time until the classic issues rear their heads?

Thanks for the help!

change the fuel filter, start reading the 690 thread and look in to TuneEcu.

Yep, I've been buried in the 690 thread for a few months now, and have read every page of Noah's RTW RR. Lots of awesome information, just struggling to process/organize/prioritize all the info. Thanks for the filter recommendation!

Oki from Greece sells quite a lot of an inexpensive filter replacements complete with new clamps off Ebay. Personally, I think they should be changed every 5k miles to reduce the chances of pump failure.

Also check the tank bolts, they have been knows to corrode, freeze...etc.

Oem filler neck is known to let dirt into the fuel, plenty of replacements that fix that problem.

Good talking to you

My known issue is: I don't ride the 690 enough. As I mentioned, previously I added a "pre" filter to the stock air filter. Bought a UNI so I don't have to mess with that any more.

If you want more detailed pictures of my bike, PM me with your email address.
