I have no idea what that is, but it sounds expensive. Did I just get myself into trouble saying I would buy you a beer or two?

sNOw experience

Saturday I rode to our usual 9 am coffee meet on yesterday morning at the Wandermere Starbucks. Dale was there - he also rode his GS, of course.
We spent about an hour (forecast was "snow in the afternoon") when the first flurries came down.

We got up and decided it was time to ride home. Things still looked reasonably good but within about 5 minutes, the roads became slicker than spit on the doorknob.

I rode around a two car fenderbender on Waikiki and the attending cop shook his head at me. I gave him the thumbs up in spite. Two minutes later my pucker muscle started cramping up...

I could not make it up Five Mile Road because I had seen ice in the steeply banked turn on my way down. Thus I continued along Country Homes. That cost me another ten minutes, and by now the cars were spinning tires left and right. I had zero traction, no brakes, nothing. Just keep the bike upright. I finally managed to pull it into the Rosauer's parking lot and left it there for the night. Put a chain on it and a cover over the bike. Then I called the wife to pick me up (now I owe her big-time...)

Anyway, when I drove home from brunch this morning, the roads looked passable - I had perhaps a narrow window. The Cedar Road hill was clear and only the last 3/4 mile to my house was snowpacked but manageable since it's mostly level. Only one slight scare turning into my downhill driveway. Luckily I had cleared it this morning so the slipping tires caught on the way down. So, the bike's back home and I'm mighty proud and relieved.

Now I'm researching tire chains so I won't get caught like this again. Wunderlich has them but a bit pricey ($438/pair)

Yeah, for a second I had considered the trailer option but a GS on a trailer is a sacrilege.

Glad you made it home!

Jurgen, I am happy to hear you made it home finally! I was going to call you this morning but it was only 7:30 when we left for church. didn't think you would want to get a wake up call that early.

I must have been going in the right direction yesterday when we split up. The roads were covered in snow, but apparently not too many cages had packed it down. So I was able to get down Mill Road hill and then up Cinncinati by chugging along in second gear. didn't slip once. Maybe the knobbies helped too.

Today the streets were so slick Nanc didn't want to drive herself to church so I took her. Couldn't get to the pub in time, so called it off. Hope everyone had a great time. Anyone take pics?
