Whatever happened to that dude? I still remember riding his green DRZ out of the woods for him after he crashed it at 70 mph. The thing rode sideways.

Not to sound stupid ( which I am), but why does this guy have the tie down around the actual throttle grip instead of the bar ? Unless that's part of the "work"..........

Had to be at least 2 1/2 hours he had it because I saw him on it - once. Edit: And IIRC it was a little dirtier when I saw it. What exactly did he do with it before trading it???

How many miles were on it when you sold it? I found the exact same bike, same color even, with 11k miles, ABS and heated grips. The guy is asking $6900.

I really like the R1100S, I think they're sweet bikes. I really like the R1200S too.

That is FLNative, strapping it down by the throttle tube. WTF pic if I ever saw one.

You also want to move the lower end of the straps as far off-center as possible, within reason. Right next to the front tire is a bad place to hook it. You need leverage against the load side to side and front to back. 45 degrees at the 4 corners is great. Multiple bikes should be tied together so they are one. This concludes todays lesson on tying shit down!

I had just done the 60k service on it when I sold it. I'd own another in a heartbeat. I had some bad memories tied to the last ride I took on it.

That bike was a bitch to strap down, plus it was raining and I was late for a meeting that day....

nowhere else to strap it. I had a thingy that went over both clip-ons but can't remember why I didn't use it.

True story,
I walked into Matrix Motorsports here in Tally about a year ago and there it sat. had 62k on it then (60 when I sold it) and looked like those two thousand miles had been offroad. VIN, and other marks on it confirmed it had been mine. They bought it from a Harley Dealer down South, and couldn't sell it. Dunno it's location now

Ideally, I like to choke the fork tube above the lower triple on a street bike. It can be impossible, especially on a rented trailer.

I towed the Wee for the first time recently, and the crash bars are very handy for securing the bike. You know the deal, ride the bike to pick up truck and trailer.

Public Service Announcement: strapping down Telelever front ends requires a different approach than normal forks. The strap points are at the angles Kuntz mentioned, but you strap shorties around the fork bridge, just above the wheel. Handlebar straps are not used.

My failing memory makes me want to remember Francis telling me he traded it in for the Ducati down south FL somewhere.
