2012 Review
So here is my first year of motorcycling in review. It was tough to pick which pictures to use without posting so many, but here are the highlights.
Picking it up in January First ride around the Ellijay, GA area Group ride to Tellico Plains, TN for the weekend World's largest tree house 4 day ride - this was heading north on the Blue Ridge Pkwy - we were sending off our buddy as he did a 10 day solo ride to Maine and back Blue Ridge Parkway Motorcycle Campground Just a typical day ride up Blood Mountain Another weekend ride - this was Blue Ridge, GA Campground for that weekend in Morgantown, GA This was in NC, this day we rode the "Gravel-Hala", the "Gravel-Dragon" and some other fantastic dual-sport roads! Tellico Plains, TN - Cherohala Motorcycle Campground - the new owners are fantastic, great place to stay This is one of the three water crossings on Witt Rd in Tellico Plains and the only one that I had to have assistance getting across. The night before at the campground other riders were telling us how often people dump their bikes here. So I was thrilled to have only got hung up (the wee ground clearance sucks) and not tip over. Last but not least, we did a day ride and stopped by TWO to check on progress. So for a first year of riding I would have to say it was pretty damn awesome. Putting just shy of 10k miles on it, I was able to ride all of these fantastic well known places: -Blood Mountain -Richard B Russell -Tail of the Dragon -Cherohala Skyway -"Gravel-Drgaon" -"Gravel-hala" -The Snake - Blue Ridge Parkway -Countless amazing dual-sport roads in GA, NC and TN I'm looking forward to 2013 |

Bike ran perfect on top.... " I " don't run as good though... need to walk a bit slower up there...lol I thought I was accomplishing something riding the Vstrom up there until I saw a guy that trained all summer and rode his bicycle all the way to the top..talked to him at the peak and was very impressed...they get some big speed coming down on those skinny tires and shorts on.... |

Mntnbound, great pics. My wife and I are taking a trip down to NW Georgia in late May to check out the area for a possible relocation from West Massachusetts. It looks exactly like our beloved Berkshires but with a milder climate, ie more riding time! We've got a friend with a place in Dahlonega. Thanks for sharing.
A couple of pics from my KLR days, last summer in the Berkshires.... ![]() ![]() ![]() And my current ride....

Recently fitted a used pair of Akrapovic carbon fibre pipes to my (2008) Suzuki DL1000 GT, the weight difference is unbelievable!

"Hi Gary, good shot of my tent. I really like the black with the wolfman bags. Can't wait for the new ones in my favorite color......blue."
