My '07 Weestrom

This is my '07 Weestrom (DL650A), which I bought 2 years ago after riding mostly nakeds and sportbikes since I got my licence in '96. I love this bike, because it gets me everywhere I want. On the twisties I can keep up (in the corners) with my friends who ride much more sporty bikes, and I can also take it off the pavement every now and then. I am not an offroad rider (yet), but after a one day course and some practise I manage to get the thing through some rougher terrain.

this is also the bike with which I really started enjoying long trips. Rode it along Scotland and recently completed a three week trip around the Baltic sea with it. Awesome!

It is not heavily farkled or anything, but I did put on an ipod shuffle for the long days in the saddle :-)

After a day on an "allroad course" (handling the bike in this loose sand was a bit too much for me, very heavy, dropped it a couple times, riding a G450 with knobbies was much easier):

Bike packed up and ready to go on a trip:

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Gota check that out. Waco's got lots of great scenery. Are those Kenda big blocks on your Strom? I've been thinking about running a hard soft combo 705 rear and big block front for little better dirt performance.

Riding near Waco

You don't have to look very hard. Most places have dirt roads connecting them anyway. Here's Hamilton.

Hidden V-Strom Cup Holder for when you're changing tires, lubing the chain, adjusting the chain, etc...

This is my 1st post on this forum. I am new to the Adventure Touring. The 2006 DL650 is the 13th motorcycle in my current inventory. All have their strengths.

I put > 1,000 miles on the V-Strom last week, the 1st 500 around town. The last 526-miles were done consecutively on Sunday July 7th. Charlotte NC to Buena Vista VA all on Interstate, then South to the Blue Ridge Parkway (South or West ???) back to I-77, the interstate back home.

OMG - the OEM seat is horrendous. Other than that, I think right now it has got to be the funnest ride I've done in a long time.

(I can't post pictures yet. I'm on "Forum Probation" or something).

Welcome to the party JR.

I have an '06 DL650 and love it. I've covered the entire BRP and done the Deals Gap thing. This bike is beautiful for this part of the world for sure. Dump the stock seat for a Seargent and you're set. Lots of seat options, but I run the Seargent. Previous owner added it. I loaned it out once to a buddy and put my stock seat back on. Made my commute uncomfortable. Love the bike. Post pictures when you can.

Jim, I'm about on the same schedule as you with my white 2013. Just over 1500 miles in two weeks. At first, I thought a new seat would be the first thing I'd buy. Then a friend who has been riding for most of his life told me I'd get used to it. I seriously doubted time but it is starting to feel like he was right. I'm up to about 7 consecutive hours before it starts to get uncomfortable. I know everyone's rear is different but I'm going to stick it out for at least the rest of the summer before I decide. I'm moving other gear up the list of priorities.

Oh, and congrats on your new ride!
