Adrian Peterson is a Butthead

After hearing about the extent of injuries suffered by AP's little 4 year old boy and AP's comments about giving him the business I am no longer a fan. Whipping a young boy like that is repugnant to me and transcends any reasonable discipline.
AP is a pariah now.

I'd be interested to hear what someone with experience in the field would say about this. I have a feeling that it's a complicated subject.

My how the carefully crafted image of a NFL superstar has started to crumble. Does anyone have a diagram of how many children AP has had out of wedlock with how many women and which children from them he is in trouble for "punishing"? Suddenly AP looks very expendable, especially considering the decline in the importance of the running game in the NFL recently.

I used to really like watching AP - he's one of the best RB's in the game.

After seeing the scar pictures on his four year old, he's just another piece of shit who beats his kids.

That's not discipline, that's disgusting.

I would think rows of parallel, bleeding whip marks would be a thousand times more a horrific reminder of slavery than the n-word could ever be. Some people whom I'd expect to be outraged, aren't.

When I heard he was suspended for using a switch, i thought it was a bit of overreach, after all, hasn't most everyone had a switch taken to them in their younger days?

The pictures I saw yesterday are far worse than any marks left on me, those were pretty graphic and took a lot of force to achieve that result. If i was that kid I would be counting the days to exact my revenge.

You're assuming there's absolute truth in something like this. What Peterson did might only get a shrug and a "so what?" in a lot of other cultures around the world.

And he himself is more complicated that a simple "child abuse" scenario allows for. He was never under the influence, from what I understand. He sees himself as a loving father who is trying to do the right thing.

And, of course, his own experience growing up was to receive beatings exactly like the ones he handed out. He was parenting the way he knew how.

While it's tempting to paint him as a pure villain, it seems to me the situation is a lot more complicated than that.

It's also very much open to question whether a jury in Texas (if it's a jury trial) will convict him of anything.

At least three out of four for AP, maybe even four out of four.

What he did is not mere "spanking." He whipped a 4 year-old child with a tree branch until the child was bloody, then boasted about it. I doubt a Texas jury will walk him on it, but who knows. His days as a NFL standard bearer are over.

Have you seen the pics? The boy is 4 years old. I give a shit about you trying to rationalize the actions of a child abuser. Do you beat your kid like that? Trying to justify your behavior?
