Best bit is that almost all of the entry apart from 4 of us were on new bikes... my 30 year old SWM showed them all up

Since the monsoon season started last week, the gang went out to San Ysidro for some fun. Normally SanYo is just too damn hot (for some) to ride in July, but it was pleasant today. Not many group photos, as all had their own ideas on what to do on our 700+ acre riding area.

Miss Bitters, working hard on lifting the front wheel so she can move on from Novice -

Good job, considering she could not wheelie at all when we got out of the van this morning.

Two New Mexico Montesas, in their natural habitat -

I had finally worked up the nerve to bridge a gap called Ahvala's gap (named for him because he got a LOT of NMTA members over it when he did a school here many years ago). I've been scared of it for 5 years, and got up the nerve to do it today (after adding a "confidence" rock in front of the first obstacle) -

After a while, Gordy and NMTrailboss show up and wonder what I'm doing. I show 'em. "Yer an idiot," they both say, and proceed to do the gap..... WELL. No shots of Gordy, but NMTrailboss looks like he knows what he's doing -

NMTrailboss: "Hey lets try this bigger one to the left of Ahvala's"

Me: "Uh........"

NMTrailboss: "C'mon you wuss!!!

Me: "Aw geez...."

'Boss showing the way -

Me, scared out of my shorts -

Killer day. Good to be on the Montesa again.

I may just have to try Ahvala's gap on the Reflex...........

The `original` rocks had the kick. All that rain must have pushed in those `no- kick` helpers! Some how you missed the line, notice the worn groove in the rock just to the left of the rear tire in the last shot.

Big Al gave us as many pointers as we could process.

A bunch of us cruised over to Nerd Rocks.

NMTB wants to re-create this little bowl in his yard.

Soooo many cool ledges over there!

I had never been to the top on the east side, so I switch-backed up it and found that the views are incredible!

Managed to ride the Montessa up the steps to the back deck, do a tight turn, and ride off the deck. And then the rear caliper decided to lock up. Need to poke around in there, might have to rebuild the caliper.

Check the reeds. A little wot usually doesn't hurt anything.

Until you nip the piston! Pull the reeds and exhaust. If nothing else pull the top end. Might have stuck a ring. Timing could be a flywheel key, used to be quite commom beta issue.

I see that Lewisport is selling something metal for the muffler end. Whodathought that a plastic end would melt.
