Never mind, looks like Lawrence is out due to funds/sponsor issues. :( That sucks.

That does suck. Just finished reading his book (again) and was hoping to cheer him on. Next year, hopefully.

Nope, as far as I can tell, he's not in this year. Perhaps someone has more information. Don, you out there?

Thumb

Being a big Husky fan, I always check the list each year and have found:
162, ANDRES BENAVENTE VIO, CHILI, HUSQUARNA, FUERZA CHILE on the riders list. ->(http://www.dakar.com/2011/DAK/presen...AGES_MOTOS.pdf)

Noticed on the first post there was no mention of him.

Good luck, Andres of Chile!

Two South African boys:

102 Iain Stevenson - KTM 690

159 Albert Hinitenaus - KTM 690

From what I've read, Iain is a "good" amateur rider, had seven days of hell training in the Namib desert and I dont think any rallies behind his name, I hope he has what it takes for finish.

Albert is a seasoned Rally raider, also a first attempt of the Dakar, we are all secretly hoping he is going to kick some head and get a top 20 position with that faster bike of his.

We'll lock this one up and reopen it once the teams land in BA.
