Yep, that's one thing that I've found that I really enjoy about them... they are so adaptable and there's just so many things available. You can set them up in so many different ways, and for the most part it isn't too difficult or expensive to completely change the look or character of the bike to suit your own personal taste or needs.

I firmly believe in rockin whatever it is that make you smile!

Yep. Added Street Glide air shocks, PS forks springs, different seat. Change to a taller shield, and I'm done for now. All told, less then $300 bucks and it suits me well........

I'm not into a style of riding, I just like to ride. All kinds of bikes for all kinds of riding.

One of my dirty bikes;

2003 Honda XR 650l. It is a pig that loves mud. (damn, the ol'homestead needs a coat of paint )

My bling it bike;

2000 H-D Softail Springer. got over 120k miles on it. Getting time for a over haul.

My Kone Killer;

Kawi 500. That is my Gymkhana bike.

My fun bike;

Packed to go to the XROG meet;

Like I said, I REALLY love to ride.

I normally don't feed the trolls, but ok, I'll play....
Parking? This is a tiny backroad PO. One car in the lot. I got off, took pic, and rode on.......

WTF? The post in front of it was about how easy to adapt sporty's are. I was on cheap changes that transformed the bike into something more suitable.

Have a nice day..........

Go Sportsters

Let me say, as politely as I can, Lighten the fuck up. ;) ;)

I thought the 3 thread post was funny. The name. The parking choice. The Sporty mods. I don't think any harm was meant. Anyway, if it was, it was just a flesh wound.

Get a life, dude. Or, go ride.........

+1

While I also have a thing about people taking up handicapped parking spaces, you really do have to think about the situation. MOST of the time I see no excuse for it, but in this case? I would like to think that in the unlikely event that a lift equipped van had appeared that bdonley would have been polite enough to move his bike before it became an inconvenience. It's not like positioning his bike for a good photo op was the same as if he had just parked it there and wondered off to go have dinner....

ETA: I took that post as an attack because of his parking choice. If it was intended as a joke then I missed it and my above comment should be disregarded.

Yup. The dangers of a "flat" medium. Of course, I could be wrong and 100mpg could just be being a dick. Ya just never know. ;)

The Harley shop in Waynesville North Carolina had 3 used ones in stock.
2 2009 Orange XR 1200. This is the one in the showroom. The other had just been take'n in on trade;

This is the White 2011XR 1200 X sitting in the showroom floor;

They do not have the re-sale value of the other sportster models.......... yet. I bought mine in April 2011 after it sat in the Heart of Dixie H-D showroom for over a year along with a silver 2010 and a orange 2009. List was $11,989.00, I got it AND the up-graded X suspension (adjustable BPF forks and fully adjustable rear shocks from the 2011 X model) for $ 9800.00, tax and every thing, out the door. Had less than 10 miles on it. Cash..
The salesman said the owner of the dealership had told them to get rid of them. 1 week later the other 2 were gone.

If I were looking to buy a sportster and wanted to make it a better handling machine, I would find me a XR or XRX on the used market. Then the only thing you would have to buy then would be a Corben seat. The stock one is horrible and the Sargent aftermarket one is not much better.
A GOOD aftermarket pipe, a GOOD tuner with a GOOD tune, and a K+N filter is all you need for the motor.

Funny! I bought a left over new 11. Rode it for a bit in the cold ass Chicago spring. Promptly had a 1 mph tip over in a parking lot and completely tore a ligament in my left hand. Six weeks later after surgery I am back on the road. Bike is great fun!

I should have held out for a X. But when you "accidentally" buy one on eBay (hmmm. I wonder what the reserve on that is?) , you kinda get what you clicked. ;)
