Gotta keep the sportsters thread on the first page.

Any recommendations for a 2 into 1 exhaust that's not obnoxiously loud?

That bike needs a Supertrapp 2-1. It's tunable with the disks and the gold stainless looks just perfect on the Rs.

Here's one on another inmate's bike.

didn't it come from the factory with a 2:1? Maybe check on line for a takeoff?

Adventure Sporty!!

Glad to hear there are other Sporties on ADV.

"The Donkey"

Its a 2006 883L. Dualsport tires, TC88 ignition, K&N air filter, custom back box and the necessary carb adjusments to make it work properly. Other than that its stock.

My partner Soph and I are riding from Cali to Southern Ecuador starting at the end of Nov on the Sporty and a Sym Wolf 150

Looks to me like it's only a 45 elbow, a holesaw, and a welder away from having a 2-1

I put the Rolland Sands 2 into 1 on mine. It's a bit quieter at idle/part throttle than the SE pipes I bought it with, and about the same at speed. Boosted and smoothed the low end a bit as well. It's much lighter too.

It''s kind of funny how sometimes you just come full circle. In my 20 years of riding I've owned 4 Harley's and loved each one but grew tired of having a bike that was too big for around town where most my riding is done. Now I do know that you can ride a bagger everywhere but under 55mph the bikes are just overkill. So goodby RK and hello again my Sporty.

This will be my winter project but I thought I would share a few pics

Day I brought it home

After biltwell bars, had them on for a week and they are now in the landfill

Like I said its a winter project, nothing like tearing apart a bike with only 2k on it

I love how easy these bikes are to work on

Dam. Wish I could afford this right now. I miss my Sportster!!

Though I don't know that I want a velocity stack. I'd heard they let too much dirt through. I have no problem with a 1999. I have owned a new 1984 XLX1000, and a used 2006 XL883 so far. I can see my (just) 60 year old geezer self riding this thing.

Here's one on another inmate's bike.

This pipe is nice, it's lightweight, not too loud, and functions perfectly.

Just picked up an 05 883 for a project. It has 1100 miles on it and appears to have spent time in a barn. It has the cast aluminium wheels which are not cleaning up well.
Anyone powder coat or paint these wheels and how did it turn out?
My last sporty was in 1970 so I thought it was time for another.

I think that looks great.
Is that the satin or polished finish.

Satin, I had the polished version on an FXR and didn't like it much. It showed every little mark and scuff. This is a perfect finish.

Those supertrapp pipes have the upswept 2 into 1 look just right....but the discs at the end of the pipe ruin the entire thing for me. I HATE the way those things look.

I have the same problem with my wheels, so I would be interested in knowing what others have done. What about bead blasting?
