Redclay..., anyone else out on the track riding a Sportster? What is the reaction of other riders when they see you on a Sportster? Are they insulted when they get passed by a HD bike? Just some random thoughts.

Got a lot of complements on the XR. If anyone had a problem with it, they did not say. Just about everyone I ride with on the street rides a sport type bike.

I sure did!
This was my 1st time back on the track in about 4 years ...
I raced Vintage in couple different clubs, then just rode track days and couple of races a year on one of my street/track/cafe bikes.

I really missed the track. Racing is worse than crack ... you get hooked for life.

I did my track day at Jennings GP in North Florida. There were quite a few pro riders and teams getting ready for Daytona. Few XR1200s including a Canadian team. I got major "thumbs up" from those guys.

I never had a problem with anyone at the track about the bikes I've been on. You should of seen the looks on peoples faces when I did Jason Pridmore's Race Camp on my '71 BMW. Young kids don't like getting passed by bikes older than they are, but most are good sport about it.

I watched Jason, back in the 90's, pass a bunch of chumps on sportbikes while he was on an airhead GS with the stock weenie dualsport tires. And he passed them on the inside of the turn.

It's humbling and eye opening for young dudes to illustrate that it really is how you use it.

Nice pics!

Is it a 16" rear on that and if so, where in hell did you get knobbies?

That's a fun story and particularly interesting as Jason's dad, Reg Pridmore, was the first ever AMA Superbike race aboard a R90S.

16" knobbies

It is a tire that is much to small for extended use. I put it on there, studded it up, put about 30-40 miles on it at slow speeds and took it back off. I was severely overloading the tire.

Thank's for answering, do you recall the brand maybee?
It just would be fun for short trips on gravel just to shut up my GS riding friends, since I allredy done it on the tarmac
