I think it's a good looking machine and will be as big of a hit as the '48 is. Hope so anyway. The wife is holding out for a blue hard candy.

....Said the guy on the ugly square Concours. ![]() I am with you in the want department But you and I are sadly in the minority. This Sportster and the Slim seem to be aimed at the Hispanic market which is growing and so it is likely a smart move for HD.

maybe they are making bikes that are similar to the ones they have been selling because they want to sell more bikes.

True that, but I didn't buy it for the looks

Maybe eventually people will step away from this idiotic notion of "factory custom" and good-looking standard well-performing motorcycles will become a fad. |

Agree that the factory custom BS has been played, however, this should fit your bill if you a looking for a normal, good-looking, practical motorcycle:

I think the XR1200 is probably one of the best all arounder bikes on the market. It's a little spendy, compared to a strom, but you get a neutral riding position, better than parts bin suspenders, a good solid engine that can he hopped up or left alone, and the result is a bike that commutes, does track days, tours, or daytrips with only the addition of a couple of accessories.
And it's not bathed in chrome and leather. Just a good every day bike.

The 72 looks good except for the bars. But it's just another lowered Sportster that'll scrape going through the corners.
Wish I'da kept my 2006 XL883 and paid to ship it to Hawaii.

It isn't lowered. It has a 28.6 right / 29.8 left lean angle which is better than all but the Nightster. (29/30) Leaving the XR out of it of course.

Yeah, the Superglide is one of my favorite Harley motorcycles. If I'm not mistaken, though, that model is lowered. Correct me if I'm wrong. I also don't want spoked wheels. Also a bit too expensive for my taste. I would prefer a Sportster to a Big Twin. And like I said, the Sportster line up is right now.

I don't really care for spokes either. Both my bikes have aluminum rims so I can fix on the road.

![]() edit: Went back and looked at the photos. The 72 appears to have "standard" Sportster suspension. The forward controls appear to be pretty low. A set of factory mids would bring the pegs up and back, providing some additional ground clearance.

Superglide is "standard" height. Spoked wheels are an optional item. The bike comes with cast aluminum.
