Get a scottoiler fitted. My first chain went to 33K and the second is still going with 58K on the bike. That constant lubrication make a huge difference.

one would think some careful testing of the circuits would identify how to fix this charging thing, if it exists.
There was an issue with past bike DRZ400 and it turned out that the routing of harnesses etc was working against getting proper voltage/amps back to the battery. re-routing a few runs and upgrading the wire was the fix. cheap - just took a couple hours of work.

As for the charging thing. Well, none of the considerable number of Tigers that I ride with in the UK and europe have had a problem with the charging system. It could be an American thing where they seem to have far too many gadgets like GPS, Speed trap warnings, CB radios, weather stations, heated everything etc. etc. attached. It's bound to get overloaded. In fact to prove my point, mine has had to start from a completely discharged battery a few times and the charging system coped with the recharge without complaint.
I would buy the newer one.

Depends on the adjustment but really I don't care. It cleans off. I'd rather have a wet chain and some throw off than a dry chain and clean bike.
Another thing to consider is that a wet chain runs easier than a dry chain so it improves your mpg. So, the cost of the oil you throw at your chain you get back at the pumps. Free chain care really.
Oh, by the way, I use cheap 2 stroke oil in mine. The Scottoil oil is quite pricey.

Finally had a moment this weekend to put the braces on the new Palmer adjustable windshield brackets. Wow, just perfect. No more wobble in the screen and now have it adjusted to cover even my tall bulbous head!

I think I am but a Scott Oiler away from having the Tiger set up perfectly. I did not think it possible for this bike to be any more of a pleasure to ride, but it just keeps getting better.

Love the Thrumps!

No, BMW faithful put together a book with names and phone #'s of people all around the country willing to help. I think it is a good idea, but if they would just build a reliable bike....

I posted a call out for help on ADV and he made some calls out of his book. Between the two, help was on it's way. His problem was not the final drive per se, but with the bushings being a bit loose on the telelever pivot points. Once we tightened them, they were good for the rest of the trip. But, the two Tiger owners continued with the friendly jabs....

Thats a shame! I am planning a trip for next April that will take me from Blighty to Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania before catching a ferry to Italy to attend a meeting. Was looking for some tyres that would last the trip and be useable if the roads get a little "loose" These wouldnt make it there and back in that case

But dont they look good on the Tiggers.. Back to the drawing boaard...
