My Tiger had a big weekend. I left my house to go camping and she celebrated a momentous occasion:

Then she carried me for the next 13 hours over a couple hundred miles of dirt...pavement...2-track. She's a good 'ol girl, that's for sure.

All-in-all, an 800 mile weekend. She doesn't suck.

Girlie Pannier Mounts - I have a question.

Greetings everyone .....

So I'm toying around with the idea of getting another Tiger. I've had a steamer, and I'm eyeballing a girlie. Very low mileage, very good asking price, etc .....

Here's my question - Do any of you have Hepko Becker pannier mounts on your 955i ???? If so, are they equal widths or is one side closer in than the other due to the can only being one side?

And - if any of ya have any pics and would care to post them up, that'd be grand ....

The girlie I'm looking at doesn't come with panniers, and I have Gobis that I use on my other bikes, so to me it seems to make sense to either go with the H. Becker mounts, or the SW-Motech mounts - plus the H.B. bracket.

Thing I don't care for regarding the SW-Motech mounts is that they are not symetrical ..... whereas the Gobis are, so the overall widths will be different, and IMHO - odd looking.

Mucho thanks ....

G.

P.S. - any opinions on taller shields would be nice as well .....

I have the original screen, an MRA low screen, an MRA Vario and the Triumph high touring screen.

The MRA Vario and the Triumph screen both offer me the same protection (I'm 5' 9"), just look different. Either are far better than the two low screens:

Triumph Tall touring screen and a Laminar Lip. At 6'9" tall it's borderline "adequate" for me.

I'm 6-1, with a long torso, so my head's up higher than my height would indicate.

The stock 955 screen is utterly useless. A sport screen (or a cut-down standard, which I have) put my head in clean air and is the quietest solution so far.

I tried an extra-tall screen and ditched it immediately in favor of an MRA Vario. It's...OK. Just OK. If I hunch down behind it it's much quieter. The thing that none of these screens can address is the width...there's just a lot of wraparound on either side. The mirror wideners did allow the view to improve but did nothing for turbulence/noise.
