I have purposely not taken it for a ride yet.

I am absolutely positive that it would beat my 900i hands down. Also ....
I am absolutely positive that it would beat my AT hands down. But I'm not getting rid of the AT.

The way I'm looking at it, as I've posted up in the Tiger800 thread, is ..... that whatever I took / take my AT on, the XC could do easily, and as you've stated, better. Newer technology, USD forks, etc ...... plus the XC is like 100lbs lighter (no, I'm not joking) than the AT.

Anything more gnarly, well ...... that's what the 640adv is for.

For road touring - my Capo is the bee's knees ....... hence why I said, if I sell my 900i right now and wait, or have to wait for the XC, it won't put a dent in my riding.

Some interesting comparisons:

BNSF has one of the newest locomotive fleets in the industry. Every year we acquire between 150 and 350 new locomotives and a similar number are retired. A typical BNSF locomotive will travel up to 4.8 million miles in its lifetime - equal to about ten round trips to the moon. http://www.bnsf.com/

BNSF Locomotive========2006 Triumph Tiger
73 Feet Long===========7.4 feet
15 Feet High===========4.5 feet
210,000 parts==========Not that many!
480,000 lbs/avg weight====475 lbs Dry Weight
5,000 gallon fuel capacity===6.34 gallons
4,400 horsepower========125 horsepower@8900 RPM
Distance BNSF hauls 1 ton ==Distance my Tiger hauls me on 1 gal of fuel
of freight on 1 gallon of====is about 47 miles
diesel fuel: 495 miles

That doesn't sound like fun. As a matter of fact, it's no fun picking a 250# dirt bike let alone a 500# what ever.

No arguments there, never fun picking the old girl up. But without the risk, there's no reward...so I'll keep taking my chances.

And after she got her feet under her again, we made the rest of the hole with no incident:

As long as you're havin fun, and it does look like you are, that's all that matters. For me after 40+ years off road, I'm tired of pick'n em up.
