EggChaser,

Your 2nd picture - saw that same industrial park on an episode of Top Gear. Is that an old dirigible hanger in the background?

Yep it is the business zone used by Top Gear for that one episode and it is the frame for a Portable Airship/Dirigible Hanger from 1910, that apparently always was located at the Farnborough Airfield and has been relocated into the relatively new business park (which is inside the original airfield boundary)

More info here
http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co...-1910-formerly

Until the Top Gear episode I had believed it was located in an area not open to the public, even though I could see it. Watching that show made me go for a nose around to see how accessible it is. During the week of the International Airshow I suspect it would be inaccessible but the rest of the time, on foot, you could walk right under it and I got the bike as close as I could without getting someone from estate security after me.

I will go back at night to see it as they do apparently light it up.

Couple more shots

[QUOTE=JakeTJCJ;18738620]Taking a Sunday drive down in the county.

I'm waiting on my black Explorer to arrive. I asked in another thread about painting the oem panniers black. I thought that would look better on the black bike than the black and silver. I see you've done that! Did you also paint the side panniers or have just the top box? I've bought the whole set. I bought them site unseen since a like the idea of the integration versus aftermarket boxes.

How did you paint them? Are they able to disassembled and powder coated (I'll be powder coating the AL skid plate and probably the radiator brackets). Or were they just masked off and painted?

Do you have any other pictures you could share?

Thanks, Brad

If I were you I'd be wary of making it too black. A bit of contrast usually makes thing look better.

I'm not going for the total murdered out look, I think there will still be enough other materials for contrast such as the pegs, handlebars, muffler and some other various brackets and plastic. Painting the bags metallic black to match the bodywork/tank should leave a contrast between the flat plastic ends and the painted part, similar to other painted panniers on bikes like a MS1200 or the Tiger1050. The stock plastic skid pan is black and I like how that looks. The silver radiator brackets seems an odd choice but I'll have to stare at the bike a while once I get it to decide if they should be satin blacked too. It's all personal opinion. Painting the bags though will be the largest expense since I'm not a painter. That might have to wait a while.

You need to link to a photo sharing site such as Photobucket.
