from the Havasu tour last month...

Let's bring this back to the top... Here are some shots getting ready for and heading down to Lake Havasu from Sacramento in early June. We had it all from Rain to Snow, Fog and blazing heat.

usually ATGATT...

but when it's 120 degrees out - i just couldn't bring myself to put that leather jacket back on. I have a new Spidi NetStep coming that will be on always.
Better than the knuckelheads riding with me who worried more about their chaps and beanies than jackets and real helmets.

I was more worried about dehydration than anything else... blah blah blah - excuses.

Ah hell... You knew when you posted it what you were in for.

Hey, if it's not flip flops, a pair of shorts and a baseball cap I say...

Nice pictures of all the girlies! I was torn between the Vstrom and the Tiger. I really like the Tiger's looks way more than the Vstrom, but after trying both, the Wee-strom just fit me better, well that and the extra $3K I saved. ;-) Great to see them out in the dirt. May still get one someday.

ah - did you copy my link back to the other pics at PhotoBucket? There was some serious talent there that weekend. Had to delete several for PG rating back to SWMBO.
Still more to post and process for the ride report.

Yea, on the Tiger Forums, the early models were called "Steamers" due to the exhaust from 2 pipes, when the later models came out with the "eyelashes" above the headlamps, they were nicknamed "Girlies"

My "new" steamer. It's a 97

Mileage is a bit low at the moment, but I'm working on that.

Still has original Michelins, still filled with English air.

Out for a first ride

Seems to enjoy mountain air

Such a nice-looking old thing, I'm a bit reluctant to knob it up and throw it into the muddy thicket.

It sounds like a diesel tractor at idle, pulls hard and runs smooooove on the road.

I'm in love.

Cheers,

60x is a Tiger. No. 9 is being piloted by Gary Nixon.

hmm, if it's that noisy it could be a victim of the DAR (Dreaded Alternator Rattle) - are you aware of the alternator issues on these?

pretty bike btw

Yes, I've heard the DAR stories around campfires... pretty scary.
Mine just sounds like top end stuff to me. I had another Triumph 885 that sang the same song, so I don't think it's the alt rattle. Wouldn't hurt for me to get my ear down in the area anyway. Thanks for the reminder. Better safe than stranded.
