Only a former TE610 owner can get away with picking on a 610 owner for not wanting more weight on the subframe.

Good stuff, Frank and Co.!!!

CDR v Forever West

For anyone considering riding the CDR I strongly recommend consideration of our route. Our original plan for this year was the CDR. Frank and Byways Huegel starting planning and came up with something IMO mucho mucho better and more suited to our style of riding and with better scenery. Remember the CDR was originally conceived as a bicycle route from Canada to Mexico.

Depends on what you want form your riding time. If you want to say you've ridden the CDR and gone from Canada to Mexico then you should ride the CDR route. If you want spectacular riding, some history, fantastic camp sites and breathtaking scenery and vistas, then you should consider the Forever West route.

Consider it considered! Perhaps will there be gpx tracks available? Or does this infringe on TH's business. If so nevermind.

Ah... DockingPilot...?

No pressure here, but...ah... can we have another installment please?

I mean, everything so far has been amazing, and I've only got another 5 days left on my vacation, so it'd be mighty great to read some more about this trip... :)

C'mon... don't those ships have auto pilot or something? Surely in 2011 they can dock themselves for a bit... ;)

Big Trailies

Another stellar DP RR. A lot of this looks familiar as we rode south to north this past summer along the CDR in late July. We will be following your tracks next summer along the Turf & Surf ride. I can't believe the quality of your photos. Brilliant!

Tires

Frank, how did you like the Mitas tires on the F8? Were they a little funny cornering on pavement? I've been running a pair on my G650 with success, but I can't keep up with the sport bikes in the twistys anymore.

There are several picture authors for this RR. I used the new Panasonic DMC LX5. Frank had a Sony I believe, Duane a Cannon DSLR, Bruce had a Sony too, I think Mike had a Sony and John and Tony I don't remember (they can chime in). The reason I picked the LX5 was because of the Leica lens (the camera is really a re-badged Leica). It's extremely fast (2.8), wide (24mm) and is good for low light. Not high magnification I don't even know what it is (but I don't care). I especially liked the different formats that you can select right on the lens barrel without going into a menu. My fave is 16:9 and the old-school square format.
