Between $90 and $100 for just the gear depending on the exchange rate. I'll know for sure once she gets back to the USA. I also wanted to confirm that it is the correct gear once I get it into my hand. Hopefully nothing was lost in translation. This is what I gave her.

That's what she told me when I originally talked to her but I'll find out for sure when she gets back as well as if it really is the right part. Hopefully I just didn't buy a part that is the wrong part that I could get here in the states for $40!!

So is this the best place to order 5th gear from?

I'll bump this back up to the top of the list and answer your question by saying: Maybe

If I understand correctly, you have to pay shipping twice from those guys unless you are local to them. So, in the end, it could be close to the price you pay directly from England. What do they charge for S+H?

I'm waiting for TJ to tell us his final costs. I have a friend that visits Japan several times a year. But he won't be making the trip for awhile due to the earthquake problems.

I got the 5th gear!! I got the 5th gear!! I got the 5th gear!!

Price in Japan at current exchange rate: $80

I confirmed the part number and number of teeth and it looks like the correct one.

I gave my coworker $100 total for her time and effort. She won't be going back there again for some time, maybe a year or two.

So if you can find a Japanese connection, it is a good way to go!!
