65-mile Lap of the Snow Mountain Wilderness

View Lap Snow Mountain Wilderness (ideal circuit) in a larger map

This is in the Mendocino National Forest, north of Clear Lake, CA.
Here's a link to a .gpx file. And here's a link to the trip report on ADV rider and on my blog, West County Explorers Club.

I am surprised the gate was open just before you get to the Fouts Springs staging area and not far past where you crossed the Middle fork of Stony Creek. I live up there (just outside of Stonyford), and it has been closed the last few times I have checked (December - January). Maybe it is closed but not locked?

GF and I have done that ride many times. It is one of our favorites.

RE": Snow Mountain Loop

Thanks for this posting. I have been interested in spending more time exploring that region. I am interested in travelling that route too. According to your post, it may be best in late spring after the creeks settle.

Any other takers?
PM me.
Jeff
