Have a great ride!

I'm departing on an outing tomorrow. Chomping at the bit to get on the road...

Photo from the past

XS1 [circa '75] - had a real bad hinge in the middle

XS2 [circa '75], had a 750 kit in it, good in a straight line, shit on corners!
Cheers

I'd say I'd have a great cruisin' around over there, Route 66 comes to mind, wouldn't mind doin' the North-west country too - Washington & down through the Rockies to Colorado

These tank bags are growin' on me

Out for a backroads shakedown run this morning. It finally rained last night after a really dry month but there still wasnt much mud to be found.

I am pleased with the way it handles off the pavement. So far I have put around 600 miles on it , mostly on the road. The rig handles the loose stuff pretty well but one thing I dont like is the lack of a rear brake when the drum gets wet. I might try and hookup the sidecars brake as well but its a drum too so I still dont think its going to give the stopping power I desire.

Baza, Hi, I rode about 100 miles on sunday. It was great. Why the lay-off of riding? ED

Better brakes?

After some hard riding on my XS/sidecar I can tell that I am going to need some more stopping power for the extra weight. Its not so bad by myself but when one of the kids is with me I am concerned about the stopping distance.

I guess my choices are dual disc in the front or replacing the rear drum with a disc.

I would guess to cheapest way would be to go with another disc on the front but what is involved swapping the rear drum for a disc? Did they ever make a spoked 18" rear with a disc?

Another option I might consider is swapping the whole front end with something else with a little stiffer springs and dual disc . Maybe an XS1100 or something like it.
