Got out for a ride on New Years day, went out to Micalong Creek where a lot of ADV'ers had gathered to see the new year in
![]() ![]() borrowed a few photos, nice shot 'fati ![]() ![]() lots of wildlife on the roads!, had a few close calls going out, topped one hill & found myself in the middle of a mob of 'roos @ 100kph [60mph], first thought was;- 'this could end badly", fortunately missed all of them, just luck when you've got 10-15 of the furry shits bouncing all over the road, & it's not the ones you can see that usually take you out, it's usually the bastards on the side of the road that you don't see !!!!! Cheers Baza

Thanks, that picture was posted about 2 yrs ago, and I had finished that bike that spring. I now have about 3 seasons of riding on it without a hitch. It looks the same except the bars are a little higher now, my old neck just couldn't take the short bars. It's amazing that I still get messages asking about the bike from such an old posting.

Doesn't seem to be much action going on here, no rides [with photos] & rebuilds????
![]() Been busy watching bushfires threatening our neck of the woods, ![]() ![]() this one was stopped after 35kms of rampaging through rough country, it covered 25km of that distance in one day, a decent sized fire but fairly slow travelling [very rough country], photo is at about 20kms out, was stopped @ 'Devils Gap' - just 10kms [6mls], short of our place ![]() Cheers Baza

Winter here in Canada
Baza.................I saw on the news, all the fires that Australia is having these days. I guess your country is setting records for high temperatures.
Its winter here in our area. My 78 XS650 SE is having a 5 months nap in the garage. I've got the gas tank, carbs and wheels off the bike, so I can do a little clean up. I won't be doing any riding until late April. The annual Caigary motorcycle show was on about a week ago. Lots of nice new bikes to drool over . I'd say it was worth about $5000.00.

One of the first motorcycle sports was hillclimbing. In some parts it's done on roads winding through estates.
In the U.S. the most common form is similar to solo drag racing , up a steep incline , on dirt , with breakers to negociate. The XS 650 is used in the 800cc class , with suitable mods , of course. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

For the most part they run on the ragged edge. Nitro -Methane is great for making power and heat. Not so much living a long life.
At the hill where I got these pics a good run on a perfect day was a little over 6 seconds. That's fast when you add in the the three breakers.Out of the hole you have to back off so you don't go too skyward , air time kills your drive.By the third breaker it's pretty much full throttle and hang on. ![]()
