Yell out if you want more info, I'm hoping to finish the exhaust & other mods [panniers], on 'Kenny' this week,
before going back to work after a month on holidays, ever notice how you go on holidays with big ideas of completing projects - but it never gets done?

Update on 'Kenny's renovations
Decided to have a go at building the seat I want for solo work, so we start with two bases;

Bases; white one is an old rusted 'standard' seat, had to build it up with fibreglass, interesting job - never played with it before, the other a cut-down 'special'

cut-down 'special', ready to go

after cutting & tucking & bolting together

next job is to tidy up the rear section, with a rack?, maybe

It fits!, looks OK too

now to renovate the upholstery, clean & oil so to speak

Cheers

Kenny looks sad with his pipe hangin down. The seat looks like it will be very comfy. I'll be interested to read your test results.

I'm not usually a fan of non-black painted frames on bikes, but yours has just the right proportion of blue throughout. Well done. Nice looking bike.

Thomas: We both have DRZ400S and "early" XS650s. It is too bad you are in Ohio or we could probably take over the world

Hey, thanks guys! That is/was my bike (I built it for my son....)

Yes, I was apprehensive about the blue as well, it was my son's choice... but it does look good. I had a local guy make up some Yammy logo stickers to put on the tank, and that was just the right thing.

Bike is a BLAST to ride!

Like the look, could be a cousin to 'Kenny'!
Front guard is a nice touch, what's it off originally?, you'll remount the brake junction to where?, has the front rim been relaced with an 18"? like a kid in a candy store!
Cheers

I thought you'd like it. The fender is a Preston Petty 'Baja'. It is just taped in place to see how it looks, but I think I'll use it. I'll use a one piece brake line which will get rid of the junction.

The front wheel is 19" and I believe a Special 2 wheel. I was going to relace to match the rear, but I think they look good as they are. I got them both at a swap meet, and just cleaned them up and put in new bearings.

Thanks! They are Shinko SR241 tires, 3.50-19 front and 4.00-18 rear. They look fairly close to the old Dunlop trials universal tires. Here is one with a 1973 Dunlop. About $100 for a set from the Motocycle-Superstore.
