W/ IMS Tank
All, I recently installed this Oil Cooler and a new IMS 4.0 tank at the same time and had NO issues, except I did have to share the left tank support mount. I rode with my new stuff in West Texas and it worked great!
Great product Mark! Thanks, XR650L...Mack

Not yet, Mark. I have been trying to find a 90 degree fitting to replace the tube I made. I don't have the thread size in front of me to tell you what it is.
M16 X 1 or M16 x 1.5??? I wrote it down and can't find it. ![]() I had a buyer here look for one and he was having trouble. If I ever find one, will let you know.

Well I have my cooler installed and running on my XR600. It's a beautifully made little thing. Apologies Mark for bolting it to such a ratty looking XR!
It seems to stand a bit further out than it would on an XRL. ![]() EDIT: F*** YOU PHOTOBUCKET! My pic is right side up on the iphone, and uploads upside down. Then the photobucket online editor puts them right side up, but if I link to them from outside they're upside down again! When I have some time I will cut the spacers down a fraction to try and bring it inboard a little, but there isn't much clearance on the other side of the actualy oil cooler body. It works pretty well - I am getting temps about 50-60ºF less than I was before after long highway slogs and such, although ambient temps have dropped a few degrees recently and I am now running a different carb. I intend to keep the small section of hard oil pipe that I cut out in my spares pack on the bike incase something goes wrong - I should be able to plug the two oil hoses back together in the event of a leak.

Install log, Honda NX650, EU-spec frame, roughly identical to US-spec NX frame:
First impression is that everything will bolt right on The frame bolt for the cross-brace piece of Al is 1/2 an inch higher - fixed problem by drilling two extra holes in A-shaped support Radiator shroud no longer lines up - replaced "beautiful" shroud with a spatula-like shroud - ground spatula-shroud to fit the wrong-way around and not hit the frame near the bottom - drilled cross-brace to fit the holes on the spatula-shroud - test-install Done. No pics as I didn't have the camera on me. Stay tuned :) Mark, I'll be returning the nice-looking curved shroud just in case you want it for another customer. I had no idea how useful the "extras" would be :)

So I finally got around to installing my cooler. Everything was going well until I installed the two bolts that hold the cooler itself to the support arm. I had tightened the top bolt to roughly 5 Nm when spin spin spin.
The lock nut had not even flattened! The instructions do say not to overtighten, but I can only assume mine was especially weak. I am usually not surprised when I strip things. This time I was! The only thing holding it together is a very small (1mm?) collar of aluminum. I had it welded back, threw some paint on it, and finished the install predictably. ![]() The kit is great, and, as previously mentioned, the instructions are impressive. We're finally getting some rain here, so while I fired her up to check for leaks, I haven't taken her out. Thanks again, Mark. |
