Scott,
I hope your knee is healing up well. Congrats on selling the shop. That should simplify life a bit!

I've been working on the heater lately, and avoiding the front fender work that needs to happen. I ordered a radiator, it was the wrong one, I'm trying to figure out why at the moment....... I need a tall skinny rad, like a 1st series, and all the listings for the 2nd series are the wider shorter radiator, Iike the chevys had. Maybe the panel trucks were different I don't know. I'm going to order a 1st series rad next and see if that fits the hole I have, the measurements are close.
![]() heater control rebuild! ![]() new levers in - ![]() new knobs and heater switch - ![]() ![]() I still have to weld up the crazy radio hole cut in the dash, but I did wire up a 50a outlet in the barn, so I can use my welder at home now, the next step is either to get a larger air compressor at home, or talk to the body shop guys 3 miles down the road, and maybe get them to "help me out" on getting the paint on, as I have no heat this winter in the barn. |

Progress slows on these projects sometimes. The Volvo goes into the shop next week to have the nose repaired and it took me 4 months to round up the parts I need. When I pulled the modern radio to install my eBay find radio delete plate I discovered that someone hacked a larger hole in the dash.
It's cool that you can still order knobs and levers for the truck. Do I see GM part numbers on them?

Great stuff, MZ. Really brings back memories. You're going to love that thing. And so are your kids, if you've got any. My dad had a '54 Ford panel truck. I used to be able to climb up and sit on the wheelwell inside the engine compartment while he worked on it. It was like a huge metal cave with a little straight six living in it. We'd put haybales in the back and go to the drive-in -- I'll never forget seeing Star Wars that way.

Great thread and build. I have zero skills in this area, but have friends that do. Lots of fun and memories watching this. You do nice work! Thanks for taking the time to document your progress and share it with us.
Best..............John

Wintertime has brought little snow, and some progress lining up big chunks of what is left.
Fenders, well, the fenders I had were really rough, so.... ![]() I went re-pop, and am glad of it. An executive decision on bumper treatment has been made - ![]() I scored a rotary 9000 lb lift used from work, and have been working on the bottom before installation. ![]() Grind off the rust, prime + paint. Scored some seats for the truck! ![]() Audi A6 power/heated leather. $100. ![]() That gets approval from Mrs. MZ. ![]() I'm leaving the bumpers as they are, you can't buy a finish like that. ![]()
