Flannel shirts? I remember on Christmas, you know the whiskey drinking holiday, a bunch of us gathered at somebodies house. We all rode, mostly 900 Kaws and 750 Hondas, not that night, it was Christmas.
Anyway it was apparent something was going on ,a trend. Each and every one of us had on jeans and a flannel shirt. The Roni goes around the room asking if you had gotten the shirt for Christmas. Yep , everyone. Pass the Wild Turkey. This was 1977.

That bike isn't on that video, it was made by them. It's also a huge hunk of crap and I hate it. I never thought you could ruin a /2....but they have. You definitely can't ride it because there's not even a cross brace on the rear.

I know I'm getting older...:), I kept noticing the lack of protective gear, imagining how my face and mandible would like if I crashed wearing an open face, and how my feet would look after crashing wearing canvas boat shoes. I was pretty unaware, naive about gear when I first starting riding. Glad I suit up better (way) now, glad I never went down wearing a T shirt, slip ons, jeans and a 1/2 helmet when I was in my 20s. The spirit of the video is there, shines through the goofy parts. Thanks for sharing.

I so predicted this turning into a gear talk.

I was thinking the same thing as the post above yours, I just didn't say it. That's what happens when you get older. Oddly, even though I made more than a few dumb decisions in my younger years, I guess growing up on dirt bikes had an influence on my street riding. I got my first street bike, a Suzuki Intruder, at 17. Even then I wore a full face, boots, leather jacket and gloves any time I rode.

As ever it didn't take long for the bubble to bust and the whole thing to be torn apart
![]() It was a cool video until you realised it was a bunch of wine drinking French guys. Now if it had turned out to be made by a bunch of rednecks who ended up drinking bud light and cooking alligator on the tail gates of their pickup trucks It would have been the coolest thing ever. |
