The Diavel (sp?) just has not grown on me either. Initially I wanted to write a check for one. Now however, it's ugly to me. Next...

Man, I luuv that Diavel. It looks really nice in real life and that rear tire is just and it can turn and, and, and......I dreamt that I had just bought a Fat Boy last night!

I like H-Ds. True, I don't much care for the bad attitude of some of the riders, but it makes me giggle, so it's fine and good. Last year and beginning of this I've never seen so many H-D riders in full gear and Maine is a H-D destination during the warm summer months, so I can say with the certainty of an internet expert, that a shift has happened among the customers of the brand.
I'd like to have one. And a Ducati. And a KTM.

Oh, and I just read on webbikeworld dot com that H-D is having a fantastic year already.

I agree the Diavel doesn't say "cruiser" to me, but on the other hand the whole-hog HD cruiser look does nothing for me either. Though obviously it appeals to a lot of people, so apparently HD knows more about what it is doing than the vast braintrust here.

What about the Street Rod? That always seemed like a good idea to me, but since they stopped making it, does that mean it didn't sell well?

Street Rod is my favorite VRod model because of where my feet go.
They didn't sell well.
I love them, but couldn't afford a new one. I've still got my eyes open on the used market for one that's unmolested. (good luck, right?)

Good luck on an unmolested one is right. I put money down on the first year of the XL1200S, but traded it to my father for a car for my then GF whom I was living with (bad idea). I still got to put many, many miles on it and have been window shopping for another one.

Just about every one of those I see for sale has the OEM shocks removed and replaced by some trashy lowering shocks, forward controls replacing the mid mounts, a seat for a typical cruiser replacing the OEM one piece one, drag pipes, some type of mini apes, and maybe worst of all some fat bob tank, then they still brag about how awesome the bike is even though they neutered it.

If anyone has a picture of an unmolested XL1200S with either the stock exhaust pipes or lord forbid, an actual header, it would make me feel like there is hope.
