Checking in from Corpus Christi, half way between the Texas hill country and Mexico, not much good riding here, but we ride all year long.

These were school girls on a field trip to Real de Catorcie ... I am not sure if this link will work because I am a newbie at posting pictures.

They are probably the experts. A few of us are going to Saltillo for a MC rally in March. Mostly Harley types but also a good mix of BMW and Goldwing and others. The rally is March, damn, I left my calendar at work. I'll let you know later if you are interested.

Let me try this again...

Ah, the sweet little darlings liked sitting on my Goldwing. Mexican people are so friendly to outsiders visiting their country. They have a lot of respect for motorcycles, unlike the people in the good old USA.

This was in October and butterflies roam in heards that time of year. It is fun riding through colorful clouds of the critters, though they do make a mess on the windscreen. They taste a little bitter though, especially the yellow ones.

Howdy,

I will be running an East Texas Butt Burner ride on March 5th. This will be an all paved ride out into the FM's of East Texas. Round trip from start to finish is just over 400 miles. Yeah I know that for many of us, that is a short run, but for many folks, this will be the first long ride of the year and they will have gone soft over the winter months We'll be starting here in Huntsville at my home and ending here. Riders need to arrive by 9:30am gassed and ready to roll. Figure on being back in Huntsville around 7:00pm or so depending on the pace of the group.

March 5th (Sat) 9:30am.

This is usually a pretty popular run and we have from 20-25 people on average. I usually lead the front group. We will be running two groups, a quick and not so quick. The not so quick group will probably only run about 200-250 miles. The quick group will run no more than 10-15mph over if that. However, we don't really slow down all the much for the corners If you've read the PACE article about group riding, then you know what to expect.

Friday night we usually do a group dinner with the folks that come in from out of town, same for Saturday evening for those staying until Sunday morning. We usually do the Friday dinner around 8:00pm or so. The Comfort Inn here in town is two blocks from our house and is nice.

If you get here before 9:00am, don't even bother knocking

Adios,

KTM950 near Granbury, TX

We are going to be here for a year or so, near Dallas/FtWorth, TX... we are actually in Glen Rose, TX and would like to get some riding partners to run some dirt roads and back road twisties. I have ran thru the Hill Country several times and plan a ride (or several) there in March when the blue bonnets are in bloom.

Checking in from Katy.
As far as the Big Bend Fort Davis area is concerned, I put togeather a Big Bend area outing that follows the same guidelines as the Annual BBQ Eat in December which took place in Luling this year.
It has to be cheap , fun ,and anyone is welcome.

Well, bad news and good news:

Good: I have just accpeted a job abroad. Job starts in a few months
Bad: I have to sell my bike. Please pass the word. I have placed and ad on the flea market forum for my bike. 2005 Yellow F650GS, less than 700 miles. 1st service done by dealer. Dakar smoked screen, Dakar hand protectors, heated handgrips, ABS, taller Dakar seat AND original seat, all-weather cover. I am asking for $8,100. Please email me for a picture or if interested. Thanks.

Gore-Tx, congrats on the job, bummer about the bike. Where will you be moving to?

We did a great DS ride today. A few folks showed up at my place this morning around 10:00am, just in time for a torrential downpour... I checked the radar and the ONLY freaking place it was raining was right here!! Eh, turned out to be a good things as it was dry West of town so we set out to explore the backroads. By days end we knocked out 205 miles. Lots of great roads, some major mud pits, and only one drop while hamming it up for the camera Hate to see someone get their purty new 1200GS all muddy. I was a tad nervous as I was the only one not on knobbies, although the Dakar 650 had the Avon Gripsters. I'm uploading the pics and video now. Will post a link later.

Adios,

Well, I am still working out the details but I am doing an exchange program in France (where I am from originally). It is an oportunity for me to see if I can get used to living back in France or not (I have been here for over 9 years). I am looking at leaving in early June - if everything goes to plan. I have already put my bike for sale because I know how long it takes. An ad should be running in cycletrader soon.

sell it in France

If you will have had the bike for 6 months when you relocate, you may want to consider shipping the bike to France. The strength of the Euro may make it a better deal for you, all things considered.
