Yep, if time would allow, I would at least hit US377 out of Junction to Del Rio and then 90 west. If you had more time, I could twist it up for you even more.
But sometime we just have to eat the crust to get to the sandwitch.

Who said anything about cruising the slab?

We will be doing the backroads out to Fredericksburg and down to Kerrville, thein Hwy 16 to 337, 337 to Hwy 55 and on out. A few more backroads and we'll hit US 90 at Comstock. That will be where we make up time for goofing off earlier in the day. The big problem is that on the way out there, VERY FEW Roads run East/West, seems they all run North/South. Very annoying.

So anyway, does anyone know the construction status of 170?

Adios,

Adios,
When we were there, they only had a strech tore up between Lahijtas to Study Butte which was well packed and watered. Some fellows came across it on FJRs, an RC51 and an R90S with no prob. You could call Big Bend Motor Lodge in Study Butte and ask them.

I just spoke w/ TXDOT travel services (915-886-3468) in El Paso. They said no construction on 170 in Presidio County (Presidio to Lajitas).

Adios,
Well that is pretty ambitious, about 600
miles, much of it twisty.
You must like riding at night

Also, according to Txdot 337 is still under construction.
Sounds like an epic ride though

If anyone is interested, I started a Yahoo group to try and put Adventure type riders together in Texas. We ride big dual sports, as well as Dirt bikes together, and set up trips in and out of Texas.

Enjoy

I have this weekend off...

I have had this itch to get up to Arkansas to do some DS riding for some time. Thirdcoast's report did not help any...

IF I can swing it, I would like to head up to the area just North of I-40 and maybe stay in Ozark or Clarksville. I am not totally opposed to camping either. I would be leaving Huntsville Thursday morning, riding there Friday and Saturday, and returning Sunday evening.
Anyone interested?

Adios,

I'm new to the group. I live in Midland TX and I spend a lot of time in and around Big Bend National Park riding and hiking. I have many Big Bend pictures and a few motorcycle ride reports on my website at www.biketexas.net. Sorry I missed the last tour, it looks like you had a great ride.
