Don't I know it! At least I can cross 121 from the DNT before exiting - well, most of the time anyway. It takes me longer to get out of Frisco than it does to go all the way to 635.

Howdy Ya'll,
I'm in Grand Prairie, just west of Dallas. I read and post on ADVrider, but I don't know if I would be considered an Adventure Rider. All I have are dirt bikes so my riding territory is limited to off road only. I love to travel and I especially like exploring all over Texas; I just do it in my Jeep. I hope to buy a Honda XR650L someday then maybe I can join ya'll on rides. I'd like to explore the Hill Country, I'd like to ride up the coast from Galveston to Port Arthur, I'd like to ride the Angelina National Forest and I'd like to ride Big Bend. Texas has some great riding areas, I just need a dual-sport to take advantage of it.

The infrastructure in that whole area is so far behind the residential growth, I doubt it will ever catch up, such is life in the big city.

Also your maintenance days sound like a very great experience. I leave my service to BMW and as you know that is very expensive. I want to learn to do my own maintenance. The "Two Wheeled Texans" site is something I have to check out.

Arlington here. Got to be a lot of adventure and DS riders in Texas, we once had 13 KLR's together for breakfast a few months ago. And Third Coast, Joe's BBQ in Alvin ROCKS. A BBQ stuffed baked potato bigger than your head for $5! (I used to live in Pearland).

Howdy,
I did Junior High, High School and a few years at ACC in Alvin. Graduated High School in '84. There is a big meet going down on the TWT site. Everyone is meeting in Hico at the Koffee Kup Cafe for lunch/pie Jan 29th at 11:30am. So far we have about 40 people claiming they will show up. http://twtex.com/viewtopic.php?t=2789 There are regular Bike nights in the DFW area and in Houston. The Austin people seem to have a hard time getting organized, hehe. Although they did meet at Blue Bonnet Cafe for lunch this afternoon. Another TWT member was picking up a new to her Vstrom 1000 in Leander. They rode 1431 and LCR. If you are interested in any of the meets, just keep an eye on the Upcoming events forum on TWT: http://twtex.com/viewforum.php?f=8 If anyone has an itch to come riding over here in the woods, let me know. I occasionally get a free weekend to ride and am always happy to do so when I can. Here is a list of the rides/trips I am already planning for this year: http://backroadmotorcycletours.com/events.htm We just had our first baby in Dec so I am running behind in getting all the links to the events updated with all the info. But I am working on it! The Colorado trip looks like it is going to be a popular one in June. Adios, |
