Eh? Moved to Texas

Moved from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to The Woodlands, Texas (North Houston) and ride a 1200GS. Saw posts from other Houston riders back a few years on this thread, anyone still around riding on Sundays?

Just moved to San Antonio. Looking for places to ride and persons to ride with. Don't know good riding areas yet. If you know any, post up. Thanks, Steve.

Zapp,

Mostly slab, some mild off road. I think I need a real dirt bike (like what's on your list) to re-learn how to ride dirt!

Austin / San Antonio?

Hey fellas,

I am thinking about a move to S-A, and am wondering if there's a 'community' of ADV riders in the area? Would someone post on this and also on what riding might be like in that part of the state?

Marcus,

SA & Austin sit on the eastern edge of the Texas hill country. The Texas hill country is arguably the best or 2nd best riding in the entire state (the Big Bend region in west Texas being the other area). So, there are lots of fun, hill country back roads to go explore and there is a decently sized adv riding community in this area.

check the crime stats... hate to say, but SA has a history of corruption in the police dept and they're not real keen on cracking crime rings. property crimes are shrugged off as 'normal'. Austin is almost the reverse, which is why the APD is constantly under assault from do-good "civil rights" watchers, aclu lawyers, and of course the newspaper.
But the whole stretch from S.A. to Austin and beyond is growing like a weed, so you may as well pack your bag and come on... everybody else is; legal and otherwise.

You might also check out www.TWTEX.com

It is a more localized forum.

Thanks for advice about San Antonio

Mrr1150, Zapp22, and all the others who responded to my questions about riding around SA and Austin. Great stuff for me to look into, and I've saved the links and your input. If this thing happens, I'll get in touch so we can meet up in person. I'll also stay on this 'thread' for the next few months at least.
