IMHO there will be no surge in pricing for the older bikes. It didn't happen when the 1100 became the 1150, or when it then became the 1200, or the 1200 Hexhead became the 1200 Camhead. There is little reason to think it will happen when the Wethead comes along.

My dealer said they were all told at the last dealer conference that "the motor that's coming, that no one can talk about, will NOT be out this CALENDAR year". He said past history would imply that the GS will get it first, then I think he said the R or HP2 would probably be next, then the RT.

Since the 2013 models will be out this calendar year I'm going to guess that when we do see them they'll be called 2014's.

Who really knows what BMW is going do, I'm thinking they don't even know yet.

I think the "other" GS is out now. The F800GS has been out for a while, got new competition from Triumph and now there is a slew of other "GS's" from all over. My guess the F800 will get bumped to F900 (husquvarna version of the engine) and get a slew of other upgrades to keep it competitive. It will stay a chain drive. 2013 model year

Sources over on UK gsers have it coming out in 2013 so that would be a 2014 model in the US. Never did understand the US year system. Anyway its meant to be at the European shows at the end of this year and released march next year. So maybe, maybe not. One thing is for sure tho, if it doesn't hit the shows toward the end of the year it won't be on sale next year. It's the way they work. Big show then press rides then showrooms.

Exactly, it also looks really good on sales statistics to sell a boat load of a brand new model in it's first year and having an 18 month production run really boosts those numbers!

Seriously though, we are looking at a 2014 model year in summer 2013 if past experiences are worth anything. They need to announce the new package internationally before production even starts, that's at least 8 months away traditionally speaking.

HP2? Is there a desire to continue the HP series? You have my undivided attention.

Sorry, but I really can't remember what he said, I know he said GS first and RT third. Is the HP2 out of production? If so he probably said the R second.

The R1250GS LC will be introduced at Cologne Bike Show INTERMOT, October this year.
BMW always produces new bikes after their summer holiday in August.
Just like the introduction of GS MY 10 DOHC, their produced it on end of August or September 2009. The bike itself was on the showroom and ready to be sold in February / March 2010.

That means: R1250GS LC will be available for us in Spring 2013!

From everything I am now hearing, I agree. The BMW scooters in the US 3rd or more likely 4th quarter of this year (2012).

BMW tend to roll out several new models across a platform together, so there'll probably be an RT, R or S unveiled at the same time, though it's possible that any unveilings will be split across Intermot and EICMA.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the R continues unchanged for a bit longer, as it only just had a refresh last year.

I could actually see the BMW range getting quite extensively reworked next year. We know about the GS, the K1300 range appears to contain run-out specials, so could be replaced for 2013, and there was a spy shot of a new F800 in MCN back in January.

I believe the Euro IV emissions rules come in for bikes during 2013, so that might be an impetus.
