Oh well, another truly ugly GS; I suppose this beast will be magically de-uglified before launch

Beauty is all in the eyes of the beholder, I rather prefer the slightly utilitarian style than a plastic enshrouded
luxobarge.I my eyes there's a menacing brutal "beauty" in the GS especially the GSA, if it came in camouflage colours it'd look quite ok side by side with an Apache helicopter. IMO

You're kidding, right? GS are half plastic as it is, take a close look at an R1200GS. And on the 'standard' GS, it's not just ugly, it's horrible design work as well. Looks like three designers in two different countries did the 'work'. I'd be happy if it DID look as nice as an Apache or F-22. Looks like the video is also showing an RT top rack as well.

German "Motorrad" had a couple more pictures in the lastest magazine showing the right side with the oval muffler.
They wrote that press launch will be most likely in October 2012 and that the RT will be the next boxer motorcycle to inherit the "WasserBoxer" because of the thermal advantages. |

I've got a hard time believing that. BMW's history is closer to loading dealers up with bikes then announcing the replacement than letting them run out. With the GS being the best seller, I don't see them leaving the dealers with bare cupboards.

Me too, I also doubt BMW told their dealers about the LC yet, they are supposed to be selling and market intro in Europe doesn't necessarily mean the same for North America with approvals/EPA kind of stuff but who knows?

Yes. Coupled with the fact that MANY GS owners will be weighing the benefits or limitations of the air cooled vs water cooled bikes. Sure, there will be early adopters, but many more will be standing back, waiting to hear about the water cooled bike's weight, any issues pending with FDs, or any other systems.

"Motorrad" showed "Paparazzo" pictures of a new Retro/lo Rider bike (upside down forks) using the current air/oil cooled boxer; now the statement from Kuenheim makes sense that we'll keep seeing that engine for a while longer...

My buddy's been looking to buy a new GSA. Both dealers in our area have said that they're not expecting to get any more this year, and they've heard that the production line has been shut down for the year for the GS/GSA.
