Those are two different bikes. Look at the forks and the tail sections.

Interesting.

Thanks Tallguy-09 - that's a very nice looking bike.

I agree with Hillybillypolack that it's the old engine. You can tell from the exhaust exiting from the front of the cylinder.

The headlight and instrument cluster are off the current R1200R, but the tank looks different and I think that the bars are lower. It's got the current final drive, rather than the new model which is on the left hand side. And the mirrors have been swiped off the F800R.

I'd be tempted, but I've got one of the new model R1200Rs, so I'm not sure if I'd upgrade for refreshed aesthetics. If it had the new motor...

Conventional forks, tank therefore moves forward since no upright spring in the front. I like the looks (but that awful air intake).

They aren't conventional forks at all and the radiators are either side at the front of the tank. If you look up the UK paper called motorcycle news there are some new clear shots of the new bike looking pretty much finished. Sorry I am on my phone at the moment so I can't provide a link.

This spy photo, snapped by German moto media giant Motorrad, shows a funky tracker/bobber/cafe type thing equipped with telescopic forks and based around the iconic boxer-twin. Where have we seen that before?

Oh right, in 2008 with the BMW Lo Rider Concept. BMW’s play at showroom customization, corporate’s drive to produce it was allegedly responsible for designer David Robb’s departure from the company.

The idea behind the Low Rider is simple and proven. When a customer rides out of a Harley Dealer with a SoftBob XXL or whatever, he doesn’t do so on a stock bike, but on one fitted with thousands of dollars worth of conchos or tassels or chrome skulls or whatever.

Just a few thoughts...

Hmm, maybe the new r1250r will have conventional forks (not telelever) and they're testing them out on the existing chassis.

The latest pictures of the r1250GS make it look pretty light. Maybe BMW will surprise us and make it lighter than the current bike. Obviously pictures are not the best way to judge weight though.

I was referring to the R and not the new GS
