No problem.
Now let's go out to our local dealer and pre-order our unavailable motorcycles.

Dean, who is a former owner of a dealership and has lots of company contacts, always gets one of the first new bikes on US shores.

And Marty, who changes bikes almost as often as I change underwear (he has more miles on them), would also probably have a clue!

It should. It probably will. Or it might not. Go talk to first-year F800GS owners. I'm quite content to wait.

I don't blame you, will do the same.
I need a super tall screen, lower pegs, it will take a while before the accessories will be available for the new model...

The F800GS fiasco is a little different situation. It was a completely new bike from the ground up while the 1250 is just the next step in the 12's evolution. I doubt BMW redesigned the front axles on it so you shouldn't have to worry about your front wheel coming off while you barrel down the highway I do remember way back when the 12gs came out in 05 that the demo bike our local BMW dealer had needed to get a new transmission for some reason but I dont know if that way because the bike had bugs or people rode the bike like jackasses since they weren't paying for it.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not BMW-bashing, nor do I expect the new waterhead to have major quality issues. However, while the new bike may be an evolution of the concept, it will likely be almost entirely new from a part number perspective. The fact that the engine is water-cooled and the FD is on the opposite side are two significant new design changes. Also look at the S1000RR crankshaft recall (though admittedly not a first-year issue). My point is simply that, while BMW puts out a quality product, they are not immune to first-year issues.

Also in BMW's defense, sort of, the problems with my '99 build 2000 1150GS weren't related to the new model. I had the perfect trifecta of a transmission input shaft failure, final drive failure and now it sits in my garage with ABS hydro unit failure. At least the ABS unit doesn't disable the bike and to be fair I did not change the brake fluid 12 times like the maintenance schedule calls for.
