My favorite is "GS Shepherd NZ", but of course I like others too. Hard to be partial.

The Earnslaw guys told me the weather was too bad the day you planned to go to Milford Sound. Were you able to do Skipper's Canyon?

A "GS Shepherd AU" pic would show the sheep on the bike in front of the rider...

So I understand.

Been looking at the pricing and initially was put off by the fully loaded price. Seemed a bit high, but then I thought just to get an honest comparison, I would price the new WC GS with just the same equipment as my 2007 GS, and see how they stacked up. Interesting result. This is for U.S. pricing.

My 2007 12GS was $16,900 msrp back in November of 2006. It's got On Board Computer, Bag Mounts, Heated Grips, Hand Protection, TPM. (ESA and traction control weren't available back then)

A new WC GS with the same equipment, plus adding in Cruise Control, is $16,950. Pretty amazing that over 6 years later, it's about the same price on a whole newly designed bike and with cruise control.

Now the decision comes down to is it worth the extra $2k plus for all the fancy electronic ride modes and suspension? Jury still out on that one.

Sorry for the bit of off topic, but If your 2006-produced GS, is a "2007", then my 2007-produced GS that has ASC and could have ESA (I just didn't get it), has a bit updated paralever (first revision) that is STILL the 100HP model... is called what?
Because AFAIK the 2008 GS is the 105HP model with the facelift (i.e. NOT mine).

BTW indeed interesting price comparison (personally I expected this... actually the 12GS is more-or-less same price from its 2004 release up to today - comparing the same or similar equipment).

Baluchon, except that I need to remind you of a PM I have sent you days ago, I (and I think more people) would like a source of high-definition photos from the trips. You know for desktop backdrops etc. BMW is not giving them out in HD yet.
Any chance you can help before you leave for the next One World trip?

Yours is also a 2007. They introduced new features during that same model year. I specifically waited until the "2007" model which arrived here in the US in November of 2006 which did not have the servo brakes. I had been ready to buy a GS for two years, but waited until the servo's were gone on the 12GS.

I believe in early 2007 (Jan or Feb), they introduced the ASC, and then even some months later, they started with the ESA. All the same year though. At least in the US.

Slight

infatuation at first sight ;-)
But it was blue, blue of the most revolting nuance, I would be caught dead on it though.
Looked strange with the intakes on top, on what shall I now hurt my shins?
Looking forward to a test drive, but I don't think I'll buy one, want a GSA
It's very GSsy and then again not, it's like somebody painted a pic of an old model and didn't get it right

Well HOT DAMN, I just went to the local motorcycle show and got to check out a nice brand new 2013 GS. The ergonomics are absolutely perfect, I love the narrowness and feel of it. They had a 2012 GS ADV next to it which looked and felt a lot fatter through the mid section and seat. The new GS looks a lot nicer in person than in pictures. I'm pretty sure I am going to have to have one.

Now why did you write that?
You should write that it looks worse from up close.
I love it from the pictures, so I shouldn't go check the (non-rideable yet) demo, since it will seriously hurt my wallet and my marriage.

I saw the new GS at the Indianapolis Motorcycle Show today...........looked better in person than in the pics I have seen. It did seem slimmer and more lithe than the current 1200GS. It looked great and I don't even plan on buying one in the near future.

That sure is a sweet looking bike. Does anyone know if they will have a liquid cooled GSA version this year? The specs are now very different between the two.

The new R1,200gs blows the GSA stats out of the water in the bike comparison chart.
