I don't think that thread on the UK Triumph forum can be taken that seriously.
Hey, vote smart, oh no, not Berlusconi again!?

This was reported on this thread about 40 pages ago, and has been discussed to death already. Only now, one of the original journos has put it into press. Big deal. Still so many factors that could have caused the original issue. BMW obviously aren't worried, as no recall has been issued as a result.

The new LC version is release 5.0 of the R1200GS

No doubt the new product will not be "bullet proof" immediately

This ALSO has been reported before.

Come on people this is final drive all over again. Recycling of the same things that tends to make it something like "common issue".

Two recalls for an unreleased bike. Big deal, has happened before.
Recalls are good news, means they found something AND fixed it.
Worry when NO recalls ever happen (and yes it is NAIVE to think that this means there are no issues).

THAT said, both recalls don't seem to relate to any tank slapping.
(and only the first could -COULD- be related to Kevin Ash)
Oil going to the (rear) wheel doesn't result in tank slapping. It can only result to no rear brake, or wheel sliding (and crashing of course).
ASC update also cannot relate to tank slapping as it also doesn't do anything on the front part.

But ASC is related to how the power is delivered, so could indeed be the solution to the tank slapping

I agree though, there's been far too much time to discuss this bike, we just need to ride it now

Not claiming this is the case here, but tankslappers can be corrected with proper application of the throttle, unless the bike will not respond because the computer is stepping in. Easy to imagine a situation where the ASC cycling at the wrong moment, not unlike ABS, can cause a loss of control.

Cruise Control

Saw the bike at the Montreal Show this weekend. Most exciting thing for me
was that it has cruise control.
BMW did listen.
