Among the things the inmate reported is that the radiator goes on one side, like on the S10 . The other relevant thing is that they mentioned 120 horsepower. Can you post the phot over here?

The reason for the switch of the sides of the final drive is to utilize the new FD on the current K1600. I believe it is a stronger redesign.

Okay, but then that just requires the followup question: why switch the final drive to the opposite side on the K1600? Just cause they are tired of being different?

The K1600's followed suit with the K1200 slant 4's with the final drive on the left as well.

Brief Translation

For all you gringos that don't live between Dallas and San Diego or in Northern Virginia and don't "Habla", that link above to the Spanish site basically reads the following (done quickly between patients so excuse any errors):
Enjoy,
Eddy

"Dying to tell you this story, don't be too jealous...While riding recenlty, I came upon the black and white "zebra camoflauged" water cooled GS's that have appeared in magazines recently. There were 2 German riders that I spoke to for a while. They had two water cooled GS's apparently followed by team with many different types of tires and testing equipment, (TKC knobbies, street tires, shocks, etc...)
After politely asking me to not take any photgraphs, they uncovered one of the two covered bikes and let me have a intimate look at it. It was the exact bike that I saw in the web and in the magazines. It sounded similar but with an Akopovic exhaust pipe. It was very muscular looking but with cylinders proportionally smaller than what is found on the air/oil cooled GS currently. It was very "angular" kind of like the F800GS. There were a lot of cables and wires all over it going to a computer in the tankbag. Again, it was styled very much like the 800GS, very angular. The Germans said that "it will have at least 120 HP, they were also going to be in Spain for another week of final testing. They hinted that they had done very hot and very cold weather testing recently in Spain.
Now that I have seen it, I am in love and will order one as soon as possible..."

Below that, another rider wrote "I crossed paths with the same bikes but they passed me going very fast. They sounded nothing like the current boxers, I heard them clearly, they had two lateral radiators and a small one up front (oil cooler?) The intake tracks came down onto the tops of the cylinders" (a lot of detail for two bikes blasting past you no?)

Apparently, the lucky gents forgot to ask the Germans about engine cc, and weight.

See, this thread, and ensuing spy or leaked photos are likely to get me through the winter.

I'm apparently easily entertained.

Si

Saludos.

What kind of oil did they use? Better yet, what kind of coolant did they use?

Oh, I can just see the threads now...synthetic or dino engine coolant!

Definitely synthetic... that way there would be no mineral build up slowing the coolant flow and causing the engine to overheat before the rider does in his foreskin suit. Oh yea, also the obvious superior lubricating qualities of synthetic.

Waste of design?

Seems a bit of a waste to water jacket a boxer motor.

Aren't they sticking out in the wind for a reason.

Now they (BMW) wants to keep them outside of the frame & add additional cooling jackets.

I guess this will be good for another 20 ponies after its first year make history.
