Possibly a repost but there was a big comparison test of the WC GS in Bike magazine. Bottom line was the KTM 1190 was more fun but the GS was the better overall bike and won the comparison. I am leaning towards the KTM, but there is a good chance I will pass on getting any big Adventure bike!

Of more interest was their dogged attempt to get the GS to do the dreaded bar swapping speed wobble that happened during the initial test in South Africa. They could not get the bike to do it despite their best efforts.

Dunno... but I can tell you KTM is not made for cruising.

AFAIK they will add cruise control soon... maybe next year.

At least this is my "insider info"... now sure how much "insider" though.

If bike is ride-by-wire, then adding cruise control is trivial.

You didn't get the essence of my statement though.

:)

I got it, but what's wrong with cruise control even on more offroad-oriented bike?

To the Malaga or so (on the way to Morocco)... you have to get somehow.

And for loong french, spanish highways... the cruise control helps a lot.

First of all, bike went round the planet before cruise control.

Anyway no you didn't get me. I meant KTM (any) is not a bike that likes to stay in a constant speed.

The gearbox will probably bed-in a bit, so the jury is still out. At least it now "clacks" with the best of them.

I like these cylinder head guards. They seem lighter than those that are available and under the TT engine bars more might be over kill. Is there any scuttlebutt on their projected availability?

How is the new engine in terms of oil usage?

My two GSs have required top ups every 1000-1500km until they were around 25-30,000 km.

Is the same with the new one?
