No that's not right. I told this story couple pages ago
The Wethead had been on his way to be released in 201X (may not tell more).

Than the Super Tenere came up. And development was sped up immidiatley. The Supere Tenere was rated as a real danger to the old GS. So everybody was forced to bring the wethead as early as possible, to stay competetive. (They wanted to skip the camhead.) End 2010 was aimed for the new release.
But as the marketingdeparment realised that the Tenere wasn't a real threat at all, the tension eased out. And 201X became the new target, again.

So the wethead was shelved, but that's past. Wethead will come!

DasMatti! Finally, thanks for some more news and who would dare to doubt anything the institution or "Der Wasserkopf" writes :-)
My guess would be press intro by 3rd quarter 2012. I could see BMW keep the camhead in production until the market has it's preferences sorted out.

You're welcome.

They will definetly not produce the two bikes side by side. First the capacities in Berlin aren't capabale of that. And second this would mean that you can buy an old, and new bike from BMW (1200 and 1250). Never gonna happen!
But you might find the two bikes standing side by side at your local dealer.

OK, good point. VW did it with the Jetta, they offered a City Jetta for some markets and the new model for the Germans, not sure if it worked out well and they produced in different countries/factories...

Already has happened.
1100, 1150, and 1200 oilheads were built/available simultaneously.
1150 oilhead and 1200 hexhead were built/available simultaneously.
1200 hexhead and 1200 camhead were built/available simultaneously.

Will the newly described Dynamic Damping Control be on the new water buffalo..ummm water head? Is this just an evolution of ESA or is it something different?

I'd say is highly unlikely they'll do it with limited production capacity, they could produce
the older "classic" GS somewhere in China and sell for an even higher profit
In the 80's BMW tried to phase out the Boxer but the flying brick didn't do the job, this time
the change is pretty minor I'd say, the Boxer is here to stay, I think at least.

since the yamaha is not a threat, you think maybe they will do more beta testing using american fuels and riders, and avoid a repeat of previous launch "issues"?

Dealers buy the bikes, so of course you can find old/new models in their shop.
What is said is that on the official BMW-Motorrad website, you will not find old and new models for sale together, only new models.

At least in the US you could get the 1150GS Adv at the same time as the 1200GS. 05 and 06.

It is Triumph that has BMW concerned. The Tiger 800/800XC is a full on competetitor of the BMW and the upcoming Tiger Explorer will go after the R1200Gs/GSA. It's Suppose to have 138 hp. If I were BMW I'ds be scared, very scared. Next Triumph will bring a shaft drive ST that will eat the R1200RT for a light snack. As always.... YMMV!

Regards, Paul
