The alarm, and how to operate it is listed in the owner's manual, right in the table of contents.

I have been exposed to both sides of the story

Only bike that has left me stranded was my 07' GSA (EWS antenna). KTM has by far the worst customer service, though. They do anything to deny you a warranty claim. They tried to deny me a new instrument cluster (fogging) on my 10' SMC (a well known problem on all 690/990's) due to the 1st service not being shown in their database. As if that has anything to do with it Got it in the end though.

Based on that experience I shouldn't really give more money to KTM, but last year I bought the Enduro R. I guess I'm not very clever

Yep, you have to go into the on board menu, and turn it on or off. It's a PITA, but I got used to it now.

Insist on him doing it properly. Unless your system has a defect I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

Please let me know if you solved this.

I took your advice to my dealer and I´m not sure what he did but now it´s working! When asked what he had done yhe answer I got was just that this function had been turned off in the menu.

The alarm just like the Accessorie LED lights and the LED turn signals have to be enabled by a dealer. It has something to do with the CanBus.
Once that is done the alarm activates after the bike has been turned off for a specified amount of time. When you set off the alarm it will beep quietly for a short time to give you time to get the key in the ignition.

Of course. What else you'd expect?

Need more photos. So far it looks just like the standard GS with a little bit of Photoshop work for blacked out frame, forks, beak extender, rims, and some darkening of the front side tank area. That photo is fairly useless.
